"Water splitting photocatalysts for solar hydrogen production on a large scale"
Prof. Kazunari Domen has devoted his research career in catalysis to the development of water splitting. In photocatalysis, layered oxide photocatalysts and oxynitride and oxysulfide photocatalysts with visible-light response have been developed. Prof. Domen has been named a 2024 Clarivate Citation Laureate in Chemistry. As is well known, Clarivate Analytics has been presenting top candidates for the Nobel Prize every year since 2002 based on analysis of citation data from academic publications.
Prof. Wee Han ANG graduated with a BSc with First Class honours from the Imperial College of London, UK in 1995. After a military stint in the Republic of Singapore Navy, he obtained a PhD in medicinal inorganic chemistry with Prof Paul Dyson at the Ecole Polytechnique Federale de Lausanne, Switzerland in 2007. He later worked with Prof. Stephen Lippard at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, USA as a postdoctoral research fellow before joining the National University of Singapore in 2009 to begin his independent research career, where he has been since. His research program focusses on the development of metal-based compounds for cancer therapy and rare diseases.
"Solvothermal Synthesis of Inorganic Nanomaterials and
Their Novel Applications in Environmental Response"
Prof. Shu YIN received a Ph.D. degree in applied chemistry from Tohoku University (research period shortened) in 1999. He was a research assistant at the ICRS in 1999, then a lecturer and associate professor at the Institute of Multidisciplinary Research for Advanced Materials (IMRAM), Tohoku University in 2005, and then a full-time professor in 2016. His research interests include morphological control of nanostructured materials, photocatalytic materials, UV-IR shielding smart window materials, 2D gas sensing materials, hydrothermal/solvothermal process, soft chemical synthesis etc.
"Initiatives of “Trade-On” for Realizing Sustainability"
Dr. Seiji FURUKAWA joined Mitsubishi Electric in 1991 as a researcher in environmental technology. He received his Ph.D. in 2001 and has since held key leadership roles, including Chief Engineer at Kobe Works and General Manager at Advanced Technology R&D Center. Since 2022, he has served as General Manager of Environmental Strategy at Mitsubishi Electric Asia, and currently leads Sustainability Innovation. His expertise spans environmental engineering, corporate sustainability, and technology development.
