소율 가야금 합주단은 2008년에 창단하여 약 40명으로 구성되어 있으며, 초등학생부터 성인까지 다양한 연령층이 함께 합니다. 미국 주류 사회에 한국 전통 악기인 가야금을 알리기 위해 매년 정기연주회와 공연을 하는 미국에서 유일한 가야금 합주단입니다. 소율 가야금 합주단은 2009년 LA시청 광장에서 열린 Asian-Pacific Islander American Heritage 공연에 초청되어 미주류 언론에 한국 가야금의 아름다움을 소개하는 것을 시작으로 LACMA, 한국의 날 페스티벌, 한아름 축제, KX 페스티벌, 한국 청소년 문화 축제, 세월호 추모 콘서트, LA 컨벤션 센터에서 열린 KCON 등 다양한 페스티벌과 행사에 참가했습니다.
또한 뉴욕 국악 경연 대회, 청소년 국악 경연대회, 미주 한국 국악 경연 대회, 세계 한국전통 공연예술 경연대회에서 여러 차례 1, 2, 3등의 수상을 하는 등 주목할 만한 성과를 거두었습니다. 또한, 최근에는 카네기 홀과 디즈니 콘서트 홀에서 공연하여 가야금의 아름다운 선율을 선보였습니다.
Founded in 2008, the Soyul Gayageum Orchestra consists of approximately forty members, ranging from elementary students to adults. Our mission is to introduce the Korean traditional instrument, the Gayageum, and its beautiful sound to mainstream audiences. We regularly hold performances to achieve this goal.
Since our performance at the LA City Hall for Asian-Pacific Islander American Heritage Month, we have participated in numerous festivals and events, including LACMA, Korean American Day Festival, Korean Armenian Festival, KX Festival, Korean American Youth Cultural Festival, Sewol Memorial Concert, KCON at the Los Angeles Convention Center
Our noteworthy achievements include multiple 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place awards at the New York Korean Traditional Music Competition, the Young Korean Traditional Music Contest, and the World Competition of Korean Traditional Performing Arts. Additionally, we were honored to perform at Carnegie Hall and Disney Concert Hall.
