The South Suburban Music Teachers Association is affiliated with the Minnesota Music Teachers Association and the Music Teachers National Association.

Organized 1996
South Suburban Music Teachers Association (SSMTA) held its first meeting on November 14, 1995. By January 1996, the constitution and local branch were declared official by both the Music Teachers National Association and the Minnesota Music Teachers Association.
Charter members of our organization are: Florence Blattner, Margaret Boehlke, Teresa Gentzknow, Wendy Hultine, Mary Lou Iverson, Mary Kay Lanz and Kathy Williamson.
Our organization is committed to the highest standards of music teaching and education, and to the furtherance of the art of music through programs that encourage and support teaching, performance, composition, and scholarly research.
