Junior Section

 Southport Junior Chess Club has been running since 2005. We are based in the Gables Bridge Club, 21 Queens Road  and provide a warm and friendly environment where juniors of all ages and chess abilities can socialise and play chess. The club caters for young people aged 5 – 18 years.

The junior club between runs on Wednesdays between 6pm and 7.30pm throughout the year.

Southport Juniors are represented in the Merseyside League with a team (Southport 3) in Division 4. All team members have automatic ECF (English Chess Federation) membership; thus  our Junior team players will be able to obtain a national Grade from the ECF.

Southport Chess Club is a Learning Destination for the Children’s University and therefore able to verify learning activities.

We run regular competitions and structured, skill learning sessions as a group and on an individual basis but always with fun!

The principal of the club has DBS clearance; however parents are welcome to stay, provided they don’t interfere!

Junior Club Membership Fees: There is a one-off Joining Fee of £25 per family (not per child) plus a £1 subscription per child per visit.
