South Metro Cyclones is a 5th-12th grade mountain biking team that is centrally located in the DFW area. We are a composite team with the National Interscholastic Cycling Association (NICA) for boys and girls of all skill levels, grades 5-12. Our goal is to get more kids having fun on bikes!
Our team is led by a crew of certified coaches who have been trained by NICA and have received a clean background check. Our coaches are avid cyclists with decades of riding experience collectively. Our #1 priority is safety, and our #1 goal is to HAVE FUN!
We start the practice season in October and we hold practice at the local DORBA (Dallas Off-Road Bicycle Association) and FWMBA (Fort worth Mountain Biking Association) trails in the southern/central region of DFW (Boulder, OCNP, Cedar Hill State Park, Big Cedar, River Legacy, Gateway, Horseshoe) throughout the season. Location varies each week, but we are always riding on Saturday at 8:30 AM and Sunday at 2:00 PM. Athletes are also encouraged to train outside of team practices as their schedules allow. The NICA race season is typically late January through early May.Â
