Greek Gods and Goddesses

Welcome to South Greece High School

It's finally time for school to start again. You aren't nervous. It's the same story every year; your dad gets a new job, moves the family, and you're forced to start over. Luckily, you're used to not getting attached to people.

On the first day, you walk in and sit quietly in the back of class. Your schedule tells you that this is your Intro to War Strategy class. Familiar friends are catching up from the summer, excited to see familiar faces- can't relate.. Class goes by relatively quickly, and as you're gathering your things, the girl in the desk next to you asks you a question. She's tall and thin with dark hair and beautiful green eyes.

"Hey, can you remind me the textbook pages to read for this week's assignment? You know how first period goes. I was dozing off the entire time."

"Pages fourteen through twenty-six. Gotta love homework on the first day, right?" you chide.

She laughs and nods in agreement.

You ask her, "Do you mind telling me where room 322 is? I probably should have looked around before classes started."

"It's on the third floor. I'll walk you there. I don't mind. So you're new here?"

"Sadly. Fourth school in three years and it doesn't look like that will be changing any time soon. My dad can't seem to find a place he wants to stay, so we get dragged all over with him."

"Good to know. Word of advice- keep your circle small. This school is full of drama. I may be biased, but if you stick around with me, you'll probably survive. Oh, I completely forgot to introduce myself- Athena. I'm from Mount Olympus. I've pretty much been going to school here my whole life. My dad is big up in the school board. What's your name?"

"Harmonia. I know I'm not a local, but Mount Olympus is far, right?"

"I forget new people don't know; my dad is Zeus. He can just transport me here on a cloud. I don't usually like to talk about him too much- half of this school is my sibling technically."

You're really not sure what this means, but you're curious to find out. It seems like there is a lot to learn about here at South Greece. You're not the drama type, so you don't ask any more questions and just walk next to her in silence as she gives you the tour of the school and explains where everything is.

Once you arrive at class, you thank her for showing you around.

"Why don't you come study over at my place sometime? I'd prefer we didn't have to hang out at the school when we don't have to."

"Yeah, I'd love to. See you around, Athena."

She waves goodbye and you walk in to your second class of the day, at least with a little more optimism than before.
