Interested coaches can apply for coaching positions in our organization by contacting Lori Snell (334-406-2975) and completing a coaching application. Our program works very hard to provide quality instruction for our girls through an experienced staff.
Coaches will always be upfront with parents and players about level, progress, role on team, and growth of the player.
Coaches will be firm & direct when coaching players. They will not be disrespectful or condescending to players, parents, or officials.
Coaches will design efficient practices that push players to build discipline and take risks. Practices should be hard so that winning is easy.
Coaches will promote a team mindset while working to improve each individual player's skills.
Coaches will always make decisions based on what is best for the team as a whole rather than any one individual player.
Coaches will determine placement of players on teams within the organization based on the skill level & need of the INDIVIDUAL PLAYER. It is important to us that each player be in the best environment.
Coaches will maintain high expectations for all athletes associated with this organization which will be evident in structured, disciplined practices and sportsmanship on the field.
Commitment
Commitment to the sport and team is shown by attending practices and games, on time, with a positive attitude, an open mind, and a strong work ethic.
We encourage multisport athletes & do our best to accommodate busy schedules. However, we must continue to maintain the integrity of our program when scheduling each season.
We understand that you may have opportunities to pick up with other teams. Your first commitment is to this team and organization and to that schedule. Participation with other teams must be approved by the coach. Under no circumstances will one of our players be allowed to participate with another team when the pickup team is entered in the same event as one of our teams. Options for "picking up" must be within the organization first.
No position is guaranteed. Every player must tryout & earn their spot.
Players are encouraged to take lessons to improve skills.
Exposure
The amount of playing time each girl receives will be determined by commitment, dedication, work ethic, and skill in practice and game situations/circumstances. Practice is how we get better! There is no guarantee of playing time during games, however, as a teammate, every role is important to the team and there is always something to be learned.
Communication
Communication is REQUIRED if you will not be attending practice and/or games on time or at all. Please notify a coach BEFORE hand.
Communicate any injuries you may have. Health is more important than playing time.
Attitude/Respect
Be respectful of teammates, coaches, umpires, opposing players, and opposing parents. We must be the example no matter the situation.
Exercise an open mind and a willingness to learn, work hard, and support your teammate. You play a team sport!
Uniform/Gear
Players are expected to keep their gear in good working order and be game ready at all times.
Players are encouraged to wear STEAL gear and promote the organization during practices, lessons, etc.
Parents should promote commitment to the team by ensuring players are at each practice and tournament.
Parents must ensure players have communicated with coaches if a practice or tournament will be missed.
DO NOT approach coaches before, during, or after games. Call or set up a time to meet with coaches to discuss any concerns you may have @ least 24 hours after practice or games.
Assistant coaches are not to be approached about concerns or questioned about playing time, coaching decisions, etc.
Parents are expected to be respectful of teammates, coaches, umpires, opposing players, and opposing parents. We must be the example no matter the situation. Be advised that your negative talk is reflected in your child's actions toward those mentioned.
NO COACHING FROM THE STANDS. Focus on encouraging and supporting the entire team.
DO NOT APPROACH PLAYERS IN THE DUGOUT during practices or games unless there is an emergency.
If at any time a parent feels their child is being mistreated by a coach, they may contact the director, Lori Snell. This should only occur if every attempt to resolve the issue with the coach of the team has failed. Issues such as playing time, batting order, and positioning are not open for discussion.
