Frequently Asked Questions:
Is SDMC right for me? SDMC is designed to help rising 9th-12th graders who desire to improve their conducting skills and serve as a drum major for their HS Marching Band. We have tracts for students who have little to no experience all the way to students who may be returning to their program. We invite all students who want to learn more, gain experience, and improve their conducting skills to attend.
How much does it cost? The current cost is $100 per student - until June 1. Afterwards, it is $125.
What is included in the registration fee? The fee will cover the camp T-shirt, lunch, and of course the instruction by our staff.
Can my school/band cover the expense? Of course. Directors are encouraged to reach out to us if they play to pay for multiple students. The biggest thing we ask is that we have your information so that we can communicate and share information with you and your parents.
How long should I wait to contact SDMC after I register? Please give us 2-3 days to reply. You will receive several emails from us throughout including an initial confirmation, and of course a final email with a detailed schedule and handouts. You can always contact us by emailing: southeasterndmc@gmail.com
What should I bring? Each year, we will work to refine the curriculum to meet our students' needs, but we always recommend you bring a pencil/paper to take notes. If we have time, we may even be able to help you go through your show scores (if you have them). The goal is to help you and build your confidence as you prepare for a successful season with your school band program.
What if I'm not a drum major, can I still come? YES!!!! We have worked with veteran drum majors but also spend time helping students who hope to one day, be a leader within their band.
What's this performance at the end of the day and is it open to family & friends? At the end of camp, you will showcase your skills and learn to conduct 1-2 pieces. It is definitely open to family and friends (it's FREE). A detailed schedule will be provided for the day, but parents are welcome to come back to see you in action after a day of intense learning!
What will the schedule be like? Roughly 8am to 5pm for all students! Things are still in the works, but here is our 2025 Schedule for you to review.
