Experiences of South North Collaboration in Energy and Development Research

Energy and development are intrinsically multi-faceted challenges and there is clear evidence that inclusive, interdisciplinary research is needed to in order to deliver a just transition.

Much research is collaborative between research institutions in the global North and the global South. An open conversation is needed on how we can better achieve diversity, equity, and justice in situations where there are often uneven funding and access to resources, and differing research priorities.

The map below shows some of the responses from survey participants; their country of residence, main countries of study and comments on the positive and negative aspects of South-North collaborations. The responses so far have highlighted the many challenges and opportunities for improvement in South North collaboration in Energy and Development research.

The next step is to explore these in an online workshop, we will be running the workshop twice to accommodate different timezones. Use the buttons below to sign up.

We will aim to derive and disseminate targeted recommendations based on these contributions and discussions.
