On Thursday (7/17/20) Brave Space community members participated in conversation with the 42 newest police officers of SJPD at West Valley College, with Administration of Justice program. Students, parents, and community leaders told these new officers about their experiences about police and the fears they have when confronted by law enforcement. This long hard dialogue allowed these officers to get a look into what community they are protecting. The voices of students and parents were heard, both community members and officers alike were able to reflect on some of the weaknesses of the police system. Thank you Mr. Gonzales and Mrs. Paquier for allowing black community members the space to talk directly with the newest officers in hopes to inhibit change within San Jose.
