Our team comes together through a shared commitment to advancing AI safety and protecting information integrity in South Asia. We combine technical expertise, regional knowledge, and interdisciplinary collaboration to build meaningful solutions for deepfake detection.

Lead PI

Dr. Dilrukshi Gamage leads the South Asia Deepfake Detection Challenge with a strong interdisciplinary vision rooted in Human–Computer Interaction, computational social science, and digital safety. She guides the team with a commitment to building culturally grounded, socially responsible AI tools that empower communities across South Asia.

Lead PI

Prof. Yash Raj Shrestha is an Associate Professor (with tenure) at the Department of Information Systems (DESI), Faculty of Business and Economics (HEC) at the University of Lausanne, Switzerland. He is Head of Applied AI Lab at University of Lausanne. He is also Academic Director of Strategy and AI Laboratory ( SAIL ) at ETH Zürich and Principal Investigator of Human-AI collaboration for medical decision making unit at the Sense.
