The inaugural Southern Ontario Undergraduate Student Chemistry Conference (SOUSCC) was at Western in 1973. What started out as a single-session event has evolved into a historical, full day conference. 

SOUSCC provides undergraduate chemistry and biochemistry research students with the opportunity to showcase their research with Ontario's and neighboring region's chemical community. Western University and the Department of Chemistry is enthusiastic about welcoming back home the event and hosting the 52nd annual SOUSCC!

We were thrilled to have one of SOUSCC's founding fathers attend this year's event and speak at the student mixer. Prof. Phil Dean shared the history and spirit of SOUSCC with us, along with his encouragement to continue the annual conference. If any Ontario institution would like to carry on the SOUSCC tradition, we are happy to share our insight for next year's "OUSCC2"!
