We hope to provide an intraoral radiation source coupled with a sensor outside the mouth for better imaging and patient comfort.
Using EGSnrc Software, we conducted a realistic Monte Carlo Simulation to verify that an intraoral source should have sufficient energy.
Through tolerance stack ups of average mouth & tori size, conventional dental x-rays contact the mouth ~22% of the time whereas we contact 0% of the time.
Our design incorporates materials to withstand autoclaving and the forces applied when biting down.
