About Me

Hi! I'm Sourav!

I'm currently a senior in college, majoring in Aerospace Engineering. My research interests have been in Guidance, Navigation, and Control of Spacecraft, and Astrodynamics. I have also worked on projects related to Robotics, Embedded Systems, and Rocket propulsion. I co-founded my college's Rocketry club, Team Avadhi, and have been working on related projects. I want to take mankind to new distances in the universe. I am also interested in Astrophysics, Mathematics, and Computer Science.

I like watching movies and sports, listening to music, playing chess and badminton, and working on exciting things. I am always open to projects. My favorite space movie is The Interstellar and all of the Star Wars series.

I fell in love with space after looking at my third-grade science textbook. I was fascinated by the planets, asteroids, and comets depicted in it, so much so that I started going out at night to look at the stars. Slowly, I was introduced to NASA, ISRO, and several other space organizations that have made brilliant contributions to the field of Space Exploration. NASA's Curiosity rover, India's Chandrayaan and Mangalyaan missions, JAXA's Hayabusa I and II, and ESA's Rosetta mission, all captivated my mind while in High School, thus fixating my choice of career in the area of Aerospace Engineering.

While in ninth grade, I had the chance to interact with an engineer from the Rosetta mission to the comet 67P Churymov-Gerasimenko. I was fascinated by the astrodynamics involved in the mission, and that is the reason why I am interested in Guidance, Navigation, and Control of Spacecraft.

I will begin my graduate studies at the University of Tokyo from Fall 2024, majoring in Aeronautics and Astronautics.
