Thakurbarir Sarodotsav is a curated cultural heritage event held annually at the Tagore Palace, Kolkata
ABOUT THE EVENT
Thakurbarir Sarodotsav is a luminous five-day celebration held at the iconic Tagore Palace—affectionately called the Prashad—on Prasanna Kumar Tagore Street in Kolkata. This annual cultural gala pays homage to Goddess Durga through a soulful tapestry of art, music, and performance, each element echoing her grace, strength, and wisdom.
Curated with care by Dr. Souraja Tagore, a distinguished member of the Tagore lineage, the festival gathers more than 150 eminent and emerging voices—artists, poets, writers, and filmmakers—from across Bengal in a vibrant confluence of talent and tradition.
The festivities unfold in three distinct phases: Ananda Mela on Mahalaya, Ananda Utsav spanning Saptami to Navami, and Ananda Yatra on Vijaya Dashami. Designed to celebrate Bengal’s artistic soul, the Sarodotsav offers a nurturing platform for both rural and urban creatives, weaving a cultural bridge that transcends boundaries.
Beyond a showcase of artistic brilliance, Thakurbarir Sarodotsav is a heartfelt tribute to Bengali heritage. It fosters community spirit, champions sustainability, and preserves age-old traditions while embracing mindful modernity. With its harmonious blend of legacy and innovation, the festival stands as a vibrant ode to Bengal’s enduring cultural spirit.
Thakurbarir Sarodotsav is not merely an event—it is a living verse, a legacy reborn each year in the arms of the community and the light of the goddess.
