Sounik Kiran was born in Odisha, India. He received his B.Tech in Electronics & Communication Engineering from Centurion University, Bhubaneswar, India, M.Tech in Communication System Engineering from KIIT University, Bhubaneswar, India, and PhD from National Institute of Technology (NIT) Silchar, Assam, India in 2018. From January 2018 to April 2019 he worked as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering at CHRIST (Deemed to be University), Bengaluru, India. From June 2019 to June 2021, he worked as a Post-Doctoral Research Fellow at Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech), Shenzhen, PR China. In September 2021, he joined in Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering at SRM Institute of Science and Technology (Formerly known as SRM University), Chennai, India as an Assistant Professor.
At present he is working as Research Scientist in National University of Singapore since May 2022.
His current research interests include Dielectric Resonator Antennas (DRAs), Self-Multiplexing Antennas, RF Energy Harvesting, MIMO Antennas, etc. He has authored or co-authored over thirty-five research articles in referred journals published by IEEE, IET, Wiley, etc. and international conference proceedings (like URSI-GASS, EuMW, AEMC, and so on) of repute.
He was serving as an Advisory Editor for Wiley Engineering Reports. He is also an active reviewer of several referred journals of international repute that include IEEE Transactions on Antennas and Propagation, IEEE Access, IETE Technical Review, AEU-International Journal of Electronics and Communications (Elsevier), International Journal of RF and Microwave Computer-Aided Engineering (Wiley), and many more.
He has received/selected several grants/awards like; "Student Grant Award" from European Microwave Association (EuMA), Belgium, "Special Travel Grant Award" from European Microwave Week, Netherland, "Foreign Travel Grant Award" from Council of Scientific & Industrial Research (CSIR), Govt. of India, "International Travel Support" (selected) from by Dept. of Science and Technology (DST), Govt. of India etc. for attending various international events. Currently his research works are partially supported by National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) and by Science & University Key Research Project of Guangdong Province, PR China. He is an active member IEEE APS/SPS/EDS (USA), URSI (Belgium), and IAENG (Hong Kong).
