When I first arrived at Om Family Ashram in Pokhara for the sound healing course in Pokhara, I didn’t really know what to expect. The Himalayan air was fresh and crisp, carrying the faint scent of pine mixed with incense, and in the distance, I could hear the gentle hum of a singing bowl. I had signed up for the course expecting to spend the day learning techniques, but almost immediately, I realized it was something entirely different. The space itself seemed to slow time, and before I knew it, I was simply… breathing and taking it all in.
From the first session, it was clear that this wasn’t a typical workshop. The instructors didn’t just tell us what to do—they invited us to feel, notice, and explore. Every vibration from the singing bowls or gongs seemed to touch parts of me I hadn’t noticed before. During one sound bath, I felt warmth spreading from my chest down to my toes. I caught myself smiling without realizing it. Around me, others were leaning back, eyes closed, completely absorbed. It struck me: this was something you couldn’t just read about—you had to experience it.
The sound healing course in Pokhara at Om Family is organized into three levels, but it never felt rigid or mechanical.
The Introductory Level lasts about five hours. We learned the basics of sound therapy, a little history, and had our first taste of a sound bath. I didn’t expect to feel much, but when the vibrations rolled through me, I felt grounded, curious, and surprisingly calm.
The Basic Level spans three days and provides hands-on practice. We played singing bowls, guided mini chakra sessions, and explored aura cleansing. I still laugh remembering the first time I tried a chakra exercise on someone else—I was nervous and unsure, but the instructor’s gentle guidance made it feel natural. Watching their smile afterward was… unforgettable.
The Advanced Level is immersive and takes place over five days. We explored chakra frequencies, vibration massage, energy protection, and meditative sound healing. Walking around the gardens after a session, I noticed subtle shifts in myself—my shoulders relaxed, my mind quieted, and I felt more aligned, in a way I can’t fully describe.
What sets this course apart isn’t just the techniques; it’s the living, breathing environment. The Ashram, tucked into the Himalayan foothills, makes learning feel effortless. The quiet mornings, soft sunlight, and distant chirping of birds all blend naturally with the sounds of the instruments. By the end of the course, I wasn’t just confident in applying sound therapy—I felt transformed in my own body and mind.
