Sounak Thakur

Hi, welcome to my website. I am an Assistant Professor at the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur.  I am an Applied Microeconomist with a focus on studying families in the context of developing countries.  I  study intra-household decision making and behavior, particularly as they relate to fertility choices and human capital formation in the context of developing countries. I am specially interested in health and nutrition in early childhood, and in research that may inform policies to combat malnutrition in early childhood. My research uses data both from primary and secondary sources, and a range of techniques including randomized controlled trials, methods for causal inference using observational data and structural econometric methods.
