Effect of external environment on Viral Proteins.
Many of the viral diseases are known to be highly season specific. The common cold and flu virus propagate during the winters. Similarly, the recent SARS-CoV-2 virus shows a higher number of cases at low temperature. In vitro experiments have demonstrated the thermal inactivation of the viruses. However, what changes occur at the microscopic level on its protein structures is not yet full understood. The lab investigates the effect of temperature, pH and humidity on the surface proteins of different viruses by using classical and advanced Molecular Dynamics Simulation techniques
Investigating the various factors contributing towards drug resistance in microbes.
There is an increasing incidence of drug resistance among various pathogenic bacteria and viruses. Using computational tools and techniques, we investigate the mechanism of resistance in the mutated proteins and also propose alternative therapeutic drugs against them.
Using AI/ML based techniques to study the effect of various psychophysiology on Alzheimer's Disease
We are also involved in understanding the molecular and gene level changes involved in Alzhemier's Disease by using AI/ML techniques to enhance our understanding of the disease.
Dynamics of nucleic acids and other proteins of interest
Welcoming the ideas of bright minds in lab, our lab also allows students to pursue their own computational experiments on a variety of protein and nucleic acid structures
