It became obvious that they had a lot in common as they discussed their healing journeys from recent divorces, love for hosting themed parties for their friends, passion for Moth story slams and drive to heal their anxious parts.
It seemed the universe had many projects for the two to collaborate on as Joce and Dani kept running into each other at community gatherings. In winter of 2025, Jocelyn helped Dani host a retreat honoring the feminine energy and the two realized how well they worked together. That's when the seeds for future collaborations began and the two started visioning what else they could dream up together.
It became very clear that the thing they were passionate about beyond all else is the drive to shed shame and express themselves vulnerably. This is something they saw demonstrated at many of Boston's story slams and open mic nights. The one thing that felt missing was a storytelling event that was intentionally healing - a community-held safe space for people to share their truth.
That's when Soul Activism, Story Sharing From the Heart was born with our first storytelling event in June 2025 at the Somerville Armory around Death, Birth and Rebirth.
Our Soul Activism Heart Vision
We are mutually passionate about healing out loud. We see how standing in our truth can be contagious and invites others into a brave place of belonging in their own unfiltered creativity in our healing story sharing events and writing workshops.
We believe in the power of the ancient medicine of storytelling in a circle. Once done around fires and now in living rooms and coffee shops - we keep this communal art alive together. This medicine is potent. Each time we bear our souls in the company of friends and strangers we shed a layer of shame blocking us from our authenticity and set a piece of our story free. In witnessing this heart-sharing, we feel connected to each other in a deeper way - soul to soul.
By weaving intentionally safe spaces, we are able to invite brave topics. Our storytelling workshops have covered Grief, Death, Rebirth, Falling in Love, Being Silenced, and Internal Family Systems Parts Work. Liberating the many places within us that have been long silenced- now set free through witnessed collective art.
We are mutually passionate about hosting events and feeding our friends, curating themed parties, making art, and healing out loud.
Dani is a lover of cats, karaoke and deep chats about the meaning of life. Stories have fascinated her for as long as she can remember - sitting on the edge of her bed as she begged her mom to read one more story before bedtime. Now, she frequents Moth story slams in addition to hosting storytelling events for soul activism. Dani is also super passionate about community building and has lived in various intentional communities and retreat centers across New England. Her day job is teaching others how to listen to their intuition and balance their energy with Reiki energy healing. She also performs intuitive tarot readings in Salem, Massachusetts with a specialty for helping people discover their life purpose.
Jocelyn has been fascinated by memoirs, autobiographies, and the power of storytelling for as long as she can remember. She has lead expressive writing workshops at the Cambridge Women’s Center and regularly leads therapeutic groups for trauma recovery & grief. Outside of facilitation, Jocelyn finds joy in karaoke, being in nature, connecting with new people, and is passionate about holistic approaches to healing. Her writing has been published in Speaking Your Truth: Courageous Stories by Inspiring Women & Social Work and Reproductive Justice: A Necessary Fit.
