If you want elite, high-definition isolation with active noise cancellation for a premium listening experience, choose SOUL by Ludacris SL300MS; if you need a durable, lightweight on-ear solution specifically tuned for children and teens with a focus on comfort and portability, choose ELECDER i45. This isn't a close call where both options are equal; they are built for fundamentally different ears and different lifestyles. While the SOUL headphones target the audiophile or the frequent traveler seeking total immersion, the ELECDER unit is engineered as a reliable companion for younger users navigating school, travel, and daily commutes without the burden of complex tech.
For seniors who prioritize hearing clarity and ease of use without the frustration of wireless pairing or battery anxiety, the choice often comes down to how much background noise they need to block out versus how light they want their gear to feel. The SOUL SL300MS offers a professional-grade, closed-back design that creates a sanctuary of sound, which can be incredibly helpful for those trying to enjoy music or audiobooks in noisy environments like airplanes or busy living rooms. However, its over-ear build and powered nature mean it requires more maintenance and a 3.5mm connection that might not suit everyone's setup. Conversely, the ELECDER i45 brings a simpler, robust approach with an on-ear fit that keeps things light and foldable, though it lacks the advanced electronic isolation that some seniors might crave for deep focus.
• SOUL by Ludacris SL300MS: Delivers professional-grade Hi-Definition audio with Active Noise Cancellation and full ear cup articulation; trade-off is its wired-only connectivity and over-ear bulk. Best for travelers and audio purists who need total sound isolation.
• ELECDER i45: Features a lightweight, foldable on-ear design with soft padding ideal for long wear by kids and teens; trade-off is passive sound isolation only and no volume controls on the device itself. Best for parents buying for children or anyone wanting simple, portable stereo sound.
The SOUL by Ludacris SL300MS is designed for the person who treats their listening experience as a serious activity. It is an over-ear headphone that wraps around the ear completely, utilizing memory foam and silicone materials to create a tight seal. This physical barrier, combined with active noise cancellation technology, means that external world noise is actively cancelled out electronically before it even reaches your eardrums. If you are a senior who wants to listen to classical music, jazz, or spoken word content without turning up the volume to dangerous levels just to hear over a television or a bustling kitchen, this sealed design is your best bet.

The "Hi-Definition" claim here isn't marketing fluff when you look at the specs; it uses dynamic drivers with a frequency range spanning from 20Hz to 20,000Hz, ensuring you hear the full spectrum of audio from deep bass to crisp highs. The ear cups articulate fully, allowing them to conform to the shape of your head, which is crucial for older adults who might find rigid frames uncomfortable over time. However, this level of performance comes with specific requirements. You must have a 3.5mm jack available on your device, and because it is a powered unit, you are relying on the cable for functionality rather than a battery that might die mid-song. It is also strictly wired, meaning no Bluetooth confusion, but also no wireless freedom.
This product is for the user who values sound quality and isolation above all else. It is perfect for the music aficionado, the producer, or the traveler who needs to sleep on a plane or focus in a chaotic environment. If you are looking for a headphone that feels substantial, looks stylish in silver, gold, white, or black, and delivers a balanced, pristine sound signature, the SL300MS is the tool for the job. But if you need something that snaps into place instantly without worrying about power states or bulky ear cups, this might feel like overkill.
The ELECDER i45 takes a completely different philosophy, focusing on accessibility, durability, and comfort for younger users, though it serves adults well too. These are on-ear headphones, meaning the pads rest directly on the ear rather than surrounding it. This design choice makes them significantly lighter and less intrusive than over-ear models. The enclosure is made of nylon and plastic, keeping the weight manageable at 0.28 kg, which is essential for children who might fidget or for seniors who prefer not to feel heavy equipment on their heads. The padding is described as ultra-soft, promising a custom fit that prevents pressure points during extended listening sessions.
One of the most practical features for families is the foldable design. When folded, the headphones take up very little space, roughly the size of a small paperback book, making them easy to toss into a backpack or carry-on bag. The adjustable slider ensures that whether the user is a young child or a teenager, the headband can accommodate different head circumferences. However, buyers must understand that this model relies on passive sound isolation—using the physical cushioning to block noise rather than electronics. There are no buttons on the headphones themselves to control media or volume; you must adjust everything from the connected device, such as a smartphone, tablet, or computer.
This product is explicitly recommended for kids over 8 years old, but its simplicity makes it an excellent choice for any senior who finds modern touch controls or Bluetooth pairing frustrating. If your priority is a straightforward plug-and-play experience where you put them on, plug in your 3.5mm aux cable, and start listening immediately, the i45 is the answer. It is built for the school commute, the airplane seat, or the quiet corner of the library. It sacrifices the active noise cancellation and the deep, enveloping bass of over-ear models for a lighter, more casual listening experience that prioritizes portability and ease of use.

After weighing the specifications and intended use cases, I would buy the SOUL by Ludacris SL300MS for myself, primarily because the active noise cancellation and over-ear isolation provide a level of peace and sound fidelity that is hard to beat in a wired format. However, if I were buying a pair of best hifi stereo open ear headphones for seniors for a family member who struggles with heavy equipment or battery anxiety, I would strongly recommend the ELECDER i45. Its lightweight, on-ear design removes the physical fatigue associated with heavier cans, and its lack of complex electronics makes it a foolproof option for anyone who just wants to listen to their favorite shows or music without fuss. For seniors specifically, the choice depends on whether they need to shut out the world completely (SOUL) or simply want a comfortable, lightweight way to enjoy audio (ELECDER). Both serve their markets well, but the SOUL stands out as the superior tool for serious listening, while the ELECDER wins on pure, uncomplicated utility.
The SOUL by Ludacris SL300MS features true active noise cancellation, making it far superior for blocking out background noise compared to the ELECDER i45, which only offers passive sound isolation through its ear cushions.
No, the ELECDER i45 does not have push-button volume controls on the headphones themselves; you must adjust the volume directly on your connected device like a smartphone, tablet, or computer.
Neither of these products are wireless earbuds; both are wired headphones using a 3.5mm jack, so they require a direct cable connection and do not offer the mobility of true wireless options.
Yes, the SL300MS features memory foam and silicone materials with full ear cup articulation designed to conform to the head, providing a comfortable fit for extended periods despite being an over-ear model.
