SOTA Choirs is a close-knit, high-performing vocal program for students in grades 7–12 at the School of the Arts in Rochester, NY. Our choirs are built on the belief that music brings people together, creating a space where students feel supported, challenged, and inspired every day.
Students in SOTA Choirs perform frequently both in school and throughout the community, sharing music in a wide variety of settings including concerts, community events, and professional collaborations. Our ensembles have had the opportunity to perform alongside distinguished organizations such as the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra, giving students real-world, professional-level experiences.
Beyond the stage, SOTA Choirs offers opportunities for travel, festivals, and competitions that expand students’ musical and personal growth. In 2025, the SOTA Concert Choir earned Gold and the Spirit Award at a New York City music festival. This an honor that reflects not only their musical excellence, but also the strong sense of unity, positivity, and professionalism they bring to every performance.
At its core, SOTA Choirs is a family. Students are encouraged to support one another, take risks, and grow together in a safe and welcoming environment. We celebrate individuality while working toward a shared goal, helping students develop confidence, discipline, and a lifelong appreciation for music.
Through every rehearsal and performance, SOTA Choirs strives to create meaningful experiences that students will carry with them long after they leave the choir room, not just as musicians, but as thoughtful, compassionate people.
