This Privacy Policy establishes a binding legal commitment between Soft Labs India ("Developer", "we", "us", or "our") and the individual user ("you" or "user") regarding the processing, operational scope, and protection of user data within the SOS Safety Alert app mobile software application. Soft Labs India is dedicated to upholding the highest standards of digital transparency, user autonomy, and stringent on-device privacy controls.
This Privacy Policy governs the use of SOS Safety Alert app, developed, published, and maintained exclusively by Soft Labs India. SOS Safety Alert app operates on an on-device, zero-cloud-retention architecture. We do not sell, rent, monetize, harvest, profile, or share your personal data, emergency contacts, or real-time GPS locations. All sensitive configurations, selected emergency contact numbers, and dispatch logs remain stored locally in private, sandboxed storage on your physical device.

Local Use Without Account: The core emergency SOS features do not require account registration. When used locally, no email address, account name, or user profile is collected or stored.
Optional Authentication: If you opt to sign in, your email address is authenticated strictly through Firebase Authentication to verify identity across sessions. Your email address is never shared, marketed, sold, or used for commercial messaging.
To provide emergency dispatch capabilities without reliance on central servers, SOS Safety Alert app requests specific Android permissions. Each permission is limited strictly to its stated safety function:
Send SMS (SEND_SMS): Used solely to transmit emergency distress text messages, automated scheduled check-ins, low-battery alert notifications, and your current GPS location directly via your phone's cellular carrier to your designated emergency contacts. The application does not read, monitor, intercept, store, or transmit your personal SMS inbox, incoming text messages, or private conversational threads.
Location Access (ACCESS_FINE_LOCATION, ACCESS_COARSE_LOCATION, ACCESS_BACKGROUND_LOCATION): Foreground Location resolves accurate GPS coordinates at the exact instant an emergency SOS trigger is activated or when using on-screen map tools. Background Location is used strictly if you explicitly enable optional background triggers (such as Low Battery Beacon, Scheduled Check-Ins, or Geofence Safe Zones) to capture your last known coordinates before device shutdown or perimeter exit. GPS data is processed locally on your hardware and sent directly to your trusted contacts via SMS. Location points are never transmitted to external developer servers, analytics services, or third-party trackers.
Read Contacts (READ_CONTACTS): Enables you to select trusted emergency contacts directly from your native device address book instead of typing numbers manually. Contact entries selected by you are stored solely inside the app's local database on your device and are never exported to external servers.
Exact Alarms (SCHEDULE_EXACT_ALARM, USE_EXACT_ALARM): Required on Android 12+ (API 31+) to ensure user-configured Scheduled Check-In timers execute at the exact time chosen without being delayed by system standby.
Battery Optimization Exemption (REQUEST_IGNORE_BATTERY_OPTIMIZATIONS): Requested to prevent device manufacturer battery-saver routines from terminating emergency background safety services while the phone is asleep.
Boot Completed (RECEIVE_BOOT_COMPLETED): Restores active user-configured safety alarms and background timers automatically when the device restarts.
Camera (CAMERA): Operates the camera hardware flash as a visual SOS strobe beacon during active alarms and captures local reference photos stored strictly on your device.
Standard Cellular SMS: SOS alerts are transmitted directly via standard cellular SMS over your mobile service provider's network.
User Responsibility: You are responsible for ensuring your SIM card has active network service, SMS allowances, or prepaid balance. If transmission fails due to insufficient balance, SIM suspension, daily carrier limits (e.g., 100 SMS/day regulations), or network outages, alerts will not deliver.
The app contains no commercial advertising SDKs, tracking pixels, or monetization trackers. Third-party connections are limited to core Google platform services:
Google Play Services: For device location resolution and core runtime libraries.
Firebase Authentication: For optional identity verification. Both services handle data in accordance with the Google Privacy Policy (https://policies.google.com/privacy).
Non-Replacement of Emergency Services: SOS Safety Alert app is an assistive aid. It is not a certified life-safety device or automated police dispatch service. In critical life-threatening situations, always contact official authorities directly (such as 112, 100, 102, 101, or 911).
Technical Constraints: Delivery of emergency messages may fail or experience delays due to factors outside our software control, including dead cellular zones, lack of GPS satellite lock indoors, drained batteries, or native operating system background restrictions.
Limitation of Liability: Soft Labs India shall not be held liable for delayed transmissions, cellular delivery failures, or device power loss affecting alert performance.
Local Retention: All contact data, custom SOS messages, and alert logs are kept exclusively within on-device sandboxed storage.
Complete Removal: Uninstalling the app permanently purges all local databases, preferences, and logs.
Manual Data Reset: You can clear all data instantly via Device Settings > Apps > SOS Safety Alert > Storage > Clear Data.
Account Erasure: If you created an optional Firebase account, you may request permanent deletion of your authentication record by emailing deep56dev@gmail.com.
