Effective date: July 28, 2026
O-JEY LIMITED ("Sorta," "we," "us," or "our") respects your privacy and is committed to protecting personal information. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect information when you use the Sorta mobile application (the "App").
This Privacy Policy applies to the App and the services made available through it. Sorta is currently distributed through the Apple App Store only. Sorta does not currently require you to create an account, does not provide email-cleaning or contact-merging features, and does not display advertising inside the App.
If you do not agree with this Privacy Policy, please do not access or use the App.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in the App, our practices, or applicable law. When we make changes, we will update the effective date above and publish the revised version in the App or at the location where this policy is made available.
Sorta is designed to help you identify and remove unwanted photos and videos from your Apple device. When you grant Sorta access to your photo library, the App may process photos, videos, and related on-device information such as file type, file size, dimensions, creation date, and similarity signals. This processing is used to identify duplicates, similar items, large files, or other cleanup suggestions supported by the App.
Based on the current design of Sorta:
- photo and video content is processed on your device to provide the cleaning features;
- Sorta does not upload your photos or videos to our servers;
- Sorta does not sell, rent, or share your photos or videos with advertisers or other third parties; and
- Sorta does not send your photo or video content, or photo-library content used for scanning, to Firebase, Meta, or Google for advertising purposes.
Sorta may temporarily use local data or caches while a scan or cleanup operation is in progress. Any such local processing remains subject to the controls of your Apple device and the permissions you grant to the App. You decide which items to delete. Deleting an item through Sorta may be subject to the features and deletion behavior of Apple Photos, including any Recently Deleted area maintained by Apple.
When you use Sorta, we or our service providers may receive limited technical information needed to operate, secure, and improve the App. Depending on the Firebase services enabled in the current App version, this information may include:
- device model, operating system version, App version, language, region, and time zone;
- an app installation or app-instance identifier;
- IP address or approximate location inferred from an IP address;
- App events and general feature usage, such as whether a scan was started or completed;
- crash reports, performance information, and diagnostic logs; and
- information about the App's installation, session, and interaction with the App.
We do not use these technical services to collect the content of your photos or videos. We also do not currently use Sorta to serve personalized advertising inside the App.
If you contact us for support or send us feedback, we may receive the information you choose to provide, such as your email address, message, screenshots, device information, or other details about your request. We use this information only to respond to you, investigate the issue, and improve our services.
Sorta does not currently require an account, username, password, or sign-in email to use the App. Sorta does not currently request access to your contacts, email accounts, microphone, or precise location to provide its cleaning features.
Sorta requests access to your photo library only when that access is needed for a feature you choose to use. You may grant, limit, or withdraw photo-library access at any time through the privacy settings on your Apple device. If you do not grant access, some or all cleaning features may not work.
Apple independently processes certain information in connection with the App Store, Apple services, and your device. Apple’s processing is governed by Apple’s own terms and privacy policies.
We use information for the following purposes:
- to provide Sorta's photo and video scanning, organization, and deletion features;
- to remember limited local settings and maintain App functionality;
- to provide customer support and respond to questions or feedback;
- to monitor reliability, troubleshoot crashes, and improve the App;
- to protect the App, users, and our business against fraud, misuse, unauthorized access, and security incidents;
- to comply with legal obligations and respond to lawful requests from public authorities; and
- to establish, exercise, or defend legal claims.
Sorta does not currently display advertisements in the App. We may promote Sorta through external advertising platforms such as Meta or Google in the future. If we later add advertising, measurement, attribution, or tracking technologies to the App, we will update this Privacy Policy and obtain any consent or Apple App Tracking Transparency permission required by applicable law and Apple’s rules before enabling those practices.
Where data-protection law requires a legal basis, we rely on one or more of the following:
- Your consent, such as when you grant photo-library permission or consent to analytics where consent is required;
- Performance of a service, to provide the App features you request;
- Our legitimate interests, including operating, securing, troubleshooting, and improving the App, provided those interests are not overridden by your rights; and
- Compliance with legal obligations, where processing is necessary to comply with applicable law or a lawful request.
You may withdraw consent for device permissions through your Apple device settings. Withdrawal does not affect processing that occurred before withdrawal.
We may disclose limited information to the following categories of recipients when reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy:
- Apple, in connection with App distribution, App Store services, and the operation of Apple devices;
- Firebase and Google service providers, for analytics, crash reporting, diagnostics, or other Firebase services that we enable in the App;
- Support, hosting, security, and infrastructure providers, if we use them to operate or support Sorta;
- Professional advisers, such as lawyers, accountants, auditors, or insurers, when necessary for their services; and
- Government authorities, courts, or law-enforcement bodies, when required by law or when reasonably necessary to protect rights, safety, or the integrity of the App.
We do not sell your personal information. We do not share your photos or videos with third parties. We do not currently share personal information collected through Sorta with Meta or Google for cross-context behavioral advertising. If this changes, we will update this Privacy Policy and provide any choices required by applicable law.
Service providers may process information in countries other than the country where you live. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards for international transfers, such as an adequacy decision or standard contractual clauses.
Photos and videos processed by Sorta remain on your device and are not retained by us on a server under the current App design. Local scan results and settings may remain on your device until you delete them, uninstall the App, or clear them through available App or device controls.
Technical, diagnostic, and support information is retained only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy, including security, troubleshooting, legal, and accounting purposes, or as required by law. Retention periods may also be determined by the settings and policies of the applicable service provider, such as Firebase.
When information is no longer needed, we will delete it, anonymize it, or securely isolate it as required by applicable law.
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures designed to protect information against unauthorized access, loss, misuse, alteration, or disclosure. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Sorta is not directed to children under 13, or the higher minimum age required in the country where the App is used. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children below that age. If you believe that a child has provided personal information to us, please contact us so that we can take appropriate steps.
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, object to, or obtain a portable copy of your personal information. You may also have the right to withdraw consent and to lodge a complaint with your local data-protection authority.
Because Sorta does not retain your photo and video content on our servers, requests concerning that content will generally need to be managed through your Apple device and Apple Photos controls. We will still help address requests concerning information that we or our service providers hold, subject to applicable law.
To exercise a privacy right, contact us at the email address below. We may need to verify your request before completing it. We will respond within the time required by applicable law.
If you are a California resident, you may have the right to know about personal information we collect, request deletion or correction, opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information, and receive equal service. Sorta does not currently sell personal information or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. Sorta also does not use sensitive personal information for purposes other than providing, securing, and improving the App.
California residents may submit a request using the contact details below. We will not discriminate against you for exercising a privacy right. Where applicable, you may use an authorized agent, subject to reasonable verification requirements.
