Soroptimist International of Idyllwild was chartered on June 8, 1973, and has continued to provide programs and services to our community for over 50 years.
Soroptimist International was founded in Oakland, CA in 1921 and is a global volunteer organization whose mission is to provide women and girls with access to the education and training they need to achieve economic empowerment.
In the past three years, Soroptimist International of Idyllwild has contributed over $7,000 to the Soroptimist House of Hope, a women's rehabilitation home located in Desert Hot Springs; over $20,000 in Scholarships and Grants to local women through our Live Your Dream Awards, Yost-Olsen Scholarships for single mothers; Local Soroptimist Scholarships; the Idyllwild Scholarship Fund for graduating high school seniors; our 8th Grade Achievement Award; the Spirit Mountain Women's Veterans Retreat Scholarship; and A Helping Hand, two grants for local women in need; and have worked tirelessly to provide just under $20,000 worth of personal hygiene items free of charge to women and girls in the Idyllwild Community with our Women's Cabinet through our partnerships with the Idyllwild HELP Center and Mountain Communities Mutual Aid.
Our club meets in the evening on the first Wednesday of the month at the Riverside County Public Library in Idyllwild, CA. We are always looking for new members who are committed to our mission! If you are interested in joining us, please contact us.
