About me

My name is Sophie, and I am an artist and art educator from Chicago, IL. Currently, I’m pursuing my bachelor's degree in Art Education at the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana. My passion for the arts has been a constant throughout my life, nurtured by the joy I found in art classes and clubs during my own education. This lifelong love of art fuels my dedication to inspiring the next generation of artists. I believe that art is not just about creating visually appealing works, but also about fostering self-expression, critical thinking, and a good work ethic. I am inspired by my past art teachers who created safe, fair, and inclusive environments where they pushed us to research, experiment, and create. Their influence formed me into the confident learner and artist I am today, and I can only hope to impact some of my students in the same way. This website documents my early field experiences at UIUC, capturing everything from my first education course to my final semester of student teaching. In addition to documenting my educational experiences, my art portfolio showcases my growth and development as a practicing artist from the start of my college career to my graduation.
