benzoxazoles for metallo-β-lactamase inhibition

The graphic proposes the predicted inhibitory activity of a phenol-containing benzoxazole compound. The benzoxazole inhibits enzymatic activity of metallo-β-lactamases (shown here as NDM-1), a class of β-lactamase enzymes, by chelation of the zinc ions present in their active sites to restore activity of β-lactam antibiotics (shown here as cefotaxime).
