On Saturday, September 8th, nearly 50 people Shared the Journey in a Pilgrimage from St. Joseph Catholic Church to St. Mary’s Parish. We walked in prayer, in support of our immigrant and refugee brothers and sisters all across the world. This Pilgrimage was initiated by SOPHIA with support and participation from the four Catholic churches in Waukesha, under a directive from Pope Francis to care for migrants across the globe.
Participants represented all four Catholic churches and many of the SOPHIA congregations. At St Mary's, more joined the pilgrims as we gathered in the community room in St. Mary's to hear Daryl Morin, a successful southeast Wisconsin business owner and a leader of the League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC) speak of our current immigration situation illustrated with many examples of suffering by refugees and immigrants that Mr. Morin has witnessed in his extensive travels.
Participants took action by signing a petition demanding the legislators and public officials reunite the more than 500 immigrant children still separated from their parents in the United States.
On Monday, June 11th, ICE agents detained Franco Ferreyra after a meeting at the ICE Milwaukee field office at a routine check-in. Mr. Franco Ferreyra has been a member of our Waukesha community since 2001, graduating from South HS in 2006.

Aug 6 Update
Franco's lawyer sent in a bond petition and we should know if it gets approved in the next week or so. If the bond does get approval, it will be anywhere from 1,500-10,000 dollars. We are not sure yet. In anticipation, I wanted to give everyone an update. This is next big thing we are anxiously awaiting for, and my kids are SO ready to see their dad soon! My kids, myself and the whole Ferreyra family are so grateful for the generosity of everyone who has donated already. AF
