Welcome to my website!

My name is Sophia Stutzmann and I am a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at Sciences Po Paris. I completed my PhD in Political Science in July 2025 at the Cluster of Excellence "The Politics of Inequality" at the University of Konstanz. From October 2023 to March 2024, I was a visiting scholar at Nuffield College and the Department of Politics and International Relations at the University of Oxford.  I hold a master's degree in Political Economy of Europe from the London School of Economics and a master's degree in European Affairs from Sciences Po Paris. 

In my postdoctoral project, I investigate preferences for retraining policies in the wake of the green transition by affected workers, works councils and managers, and how these preferences are translated into policy regarding retraining.

In my dissertation, I have focused on the political economy of the green transition, its labor market implications and consequences for policy preferences and political behavior. Some of my work has been published at the European Journal of Political Research and Regulation and Governance.
