Sophia Friedson-Ridenour

I am a Social Scientist with the Africa Gender Innovation Lab at the World Bank, where I help lead the Lab's qualitative research portfolio. My research explores how to address constraints to girls' education including school-related gender-based violence, intrahousehold dynamics and decision-making that shape women's economic opportunities, and how women entrepreneurs make decisions about how to sustain and grow their businesses. Much of my research is part of mixed-methods studies, where I conduct in-depth qualitative work that complements quantitative impact evaluations of development programs. I earned a PhD in Educational Policy Studies from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
