Welcome to 90.9 Sports All Day, I’m Maximillian Bucks and today we will be discussing the career of Ryan Ratha and what his future may hold. I’d like to start with how successful he’s been so far and whether there are any challenges that lie ahead that may slow him down a bit. Of course, I’ll be opening call lines later on for the faithful listeners who want to share their input. For now, let’s talk about Ryan.
Ryan has been developing his boxing skills since quite a young age, and honestly everyone can see that it has been paying off. He had several bouts lined up for him as he started out and none of them were even a challenge. Ryan’s manager was asked by Thaddeus Devit’s manager for a bout that would pit a young hopeful against an established powerhouse. Thaddeus Devit has already made a name for himself and quite frankly has been unstoppable lately. Normally this would be unfair since Ryan is so young and inexperienced, but Thaddeus must not be paying full attention to how Ryan is dominating his opponents. I may be in a small minority when I say this but I fully believe that Ryan could make Thaddeus regret proposing this fight.
Ryan’s fighting style is so new and unique enough that it makes preparing difficult even for someone like Thaddeus Devit. Ryan has a way of getting his opponent to the ropes in any situation. Ryan’s father was actually a very successful boxer as well and Ryan shows glimpses of his father’s fighting style, but Ryan’s father had a tragic accident that took his life while Ryan was still an infant. That is one of the mysteries of Ryan’s style. I find myself asking how Ryan developed such a similar style to his father even when he never had a chance to train with him.
With all of that said, I truly believe that Thaddeus Devit is making a terrible mistake underestimating Ryan Ratha. Ryan may be young but his boxing ability is out of this world. Thaddeus Devit has admitted that one of the main reasons he wants to fight is so he can ensure that Ryan has at least one loss early in his career. That sounds like fear to me. But maybe he should be scared. Ryan has the potential to threaten Thaddeus's unbeaten record and there are no guarantees that Thaddeus will be able to beat him later, so his best chance is now. Even though I agree that now is his best chance to stop Ryan, I don't believe that it will happen. I think Ryan is too talented and has too much agility to lose. Ryan may not win as quickly as he is used to, but it will be over sooner than most expect. It won't be long before we find out the result. Stay tuned in to hear me commentate the fight!
The starting bell has rung and the fight has begun! Right away, Ryan taunts Thaddeus with his fists and Thaddeus advances on Ryan swinging and missing several times. Ryan dances his way around the swings and has taken a defensive stance to start the match. Thaddeus continues to swing and miss, which is uncharacteristic of his normal fighting style. At this point, Ryan isn’t showing any signs of offense and is strictly wasting time. We just heard the bell and round one has come to a close.
Ryan missed several opportunities during that round and I'm not sure why he hasn't shown any offense yet. Ryan shouldn't mess around too much or it'll cost him in overall points. Round two has begun and maybe this time we'll see something more from Ryan. Thaddeus looks to have taken a more defensive stance this round, compared to his rush last round. Ryan is the first to advance and gets two hits in before Thaddeus backs away. Ryan advances but Thaddeus backs away some more and finds himself dangerously close to the ropes. We knew this is what Ryan would try to do and he has Thaddeus cornered. Ryan lands heavy hits on both of Thaddeus' arms and follows up with a flurry that dazes Thaddeus. Thaddeus is in a dangerous position here and Ryan has the potential to end here in the second round. Thaddeus tries to maneuver away from the ropes but instead leans straight into a hook that lays him on the mat! Ryan is celebrating and Thaddeus remains down for the count! Ryan has won the match!
The turning point was when Ryan landed those hits on Thaddeus' arms and it affected the way Thaddeus could block the following flurry that dazed him. In a short bout between an established powerhouse and a young man that fights like a legend, a new face emerges as the one to beat in the world of boxing! If I was a betting man, I'd say Ryan is here to stay for quite a while!
This show means nothing if it only includes my opinion, so this is where I will take the first caller of the day! Our first caller is…
For this story, I wanted to include Rama's battle with Thataka with a sports twist. I wanted to show that Rama is connected with Vishnu but there's a mystery around why they are so similar. I was really excited to bring sports into this story by using sports talk radio. I introduce Rama as a young boxer who resembles his father but is still different from him. Just like Rama is connected to Vishnu, Ryan Ratha is connected to his father. In the original story, Rama is Vishnu born as Dasharatha's son. Dasharatha wanted a son so badly that he performed a ritual and was given four sons. Because Ravana could not be defeated by gods, Vishnu was born as Rama so that he could defeat Ravana as a human. Before Rama battles Ravana, he battles Thataka, who is represented by Thaddeus Devit in the story. Thataka is actually a female, but I had to change the character to a male to make the boxing match make sense. I wanted to show that Rama did not choose to battle Thataka but was asked to and Rama agreed. I also wanted to stick close by the idea that Rama is from Vishnu but is still his own self. He is powerful but unknown. Rama was young but still battled Thataka, just as Ryan is young and battled Thaddeus. The sports talk host asks for callers' input on Ryan, which is my way of asking for input on what strengths I could say that Rama has, or how I could introduce the supernatural weapons of Rama into a physical attribute.
