I am an assistant professor in the Management and Strategy Department at HKU Business School, The University of Hong Kong (Link to my faculty profile). I received my Ph.D. in Business Administration, with a concentration on Management & Organization (Organizational Behavior), from Pennsylvania State University. I earned a master's degree in Organizational Psychology from Seoul National University, South Korea. I also earned a dual degree, a B.A. in English Language and Literature and a B.A. in Psychology from Seoul National University.
My research aims to advance workplace equity and inclusion by investigating how organizations can better recognize and leverage talent across all demographic groups. Specifically, I examine how gender, racial, and cultural background shape bias at critical career junctures, from early career development to leadership advancement, studying their impact across managerial roles, executive positions, and entrepreneurial pursuits. Through a multi-method approach combining archival analyses, experimental designs, surveys, and text analysis, my research uncovers both subtle and systemic barriers that shape career opportunities and outcomes for women, racial minorities, and individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds in organizations.
