If you want a secure, in-ear fit with active noise cancellation and deep bass for high-intensity movement, choose Sony WF-C710N; if you need an open-ear design that keeps your surroundings audible and eliminates ear fatigue during long sessions, choose Lifeworks Oladance OWS Pro.
• Sony WF-C710N: Delivers immersive sound with active noise cancellation and up to 30 hours of battery life, but the in-ear design may cause pressure or discomfort for some users over time. Best for those prioritizing audio isolation and bass response.
• Lifeworks Oladance OWS Pro: Offers a lightweight, titanium-framed open-ear fit that promotes all-day comfort and situational awareness, though it lacks active noise cancellation and relies on passive sound isolation. Best for gym-goers who hate the "plugged-in" feeling.
• The Verdict: The Sony wins on pure audio immersion and battery endurance, while the Oladance wins on ergonomic freedom and safety during outdoor activity.
The Sony WF-C710N is engineered for the listener who demands a traditional, sealed experience. As a truly wireless in-ear bud, it sits directly inside the ear canal, creating a physical barrier that blocks out external distractions. This design choice is backed by dual microphones and advanced Noise Canceling technology that actively filters exterior sound. If you are someone who needs to zone out completely—whether on a noisy commute, in a crowded office, or just wanting to lose yourself in a complex track—the active noise cancellation here is a game-changer.
Battery life is another area where this model shines. You get up to 8.5 hours of continuous playback on a single charge, and the compact case extends that total listening time to 30 hours. For a user who might forget to charge their buds daily, having that massive buffer means you can go days without reaching for the charging cable. Plus, the quick charge feature is practical; a mere five-minute top-up grants you an hour of playback. This reliability makes it a strong contender for anyone needing a wireless headset for gym sessions where they might not have immediate access to power outlets between sets.

However, the in-ear form factor comes with a specific trade-off. While the product features an ergonomic surface designed for stability, some people find that any in-ear device causes pressure buildup after extended wear. If you have sensitive ears or simply prefer not to feel anything inside your ear canal, this model might not be the most comfortable option for you. Additionally, while it has an Ambient Sound Mode to let in outside noise, it does not offer the natural openness of an open-ear design. It is perfect for those who prioritize audio fidelity, deep bass from the 5mm dynamic driver, and call clarity via AI-driven voice pickup, but less ideal for those who need to hear traffic or gym announcements constantly.
The Lifeworks Oladance OWS Pro takes a fundamentally different approach by abandoning the in-ear seal entirely. Instead, it rests gently on the outer ear using a resilient memory titanium frame. This open-ear architecture is built specifically for comfort and safety. Because there is no plug blocking the ear canal, you avoid the "plugged" sensation and ear fatigue that often plagues traditional earbuds during long workouts. The design allows air to circulate freely, making it an excellent choice for the best comfortable wireless headphones for gym environments where sweat and heat can make standard buds unbearable.
Audio performance here is driven by large 16.5mm dynamic drivers and a dedicated amplifier chip, which work together with Virtual Bass 2.0 technology to deliver rich sound despite the open design. The intelligent anti-leakage system ensures that music stays in your ears while still allowing you to hear the world around you. This is crucial for safety. If you plan to run outdoors or use a treadmill near other people, keeping your ears open means you remain aware of your surroundings without needing to take the headphones off. The IPX4 water resistance rating ensures that sweat and light rain won't damage the unit, making it durable enough for intense training sessions.
The trade-off, naturally, is the lack of active noise cancellation. Without a seal, low-frequency rumbles and background chatter will pass through to your ears. If your primary goal is to drown out a noisy gym or block out construction sounds on your way to work, this open design will not provide that level of isolation. Furthermore, the battery life tops out at 19 hours of playback, which is respectable but falls short of the Sony's 30-hour capability. This product is for the person who values situational awareness and physical comfort above total silence, and who wants a wireless headset for gym activities that feels like wearing nothing at all.

• Best for Battery Life → Sony WF-C710N (Up to 30 hours total vs. 19 hours for Oladance).

• Best for Ear Comfort During Long Wear → Lifeworks Oladance OWS Pro (Memory titanium frame avoids ear canal pressure).
• Best for Deep Bass and Immersion → Sony WF-C710N (In-ear seal plus DSEE processing enhances low-end response).
• Best for Safety During Outdoor Workouts → Lifeworks Oladance OWS Pro (You can hear traffic and gym alarms clearly).
• Best for Call Clarity in Noisy Environments → Sony WF-C710N (AI voice pickup and noise reduction algorithm).
• Best for Durability Against Sweat → Both (Both carry IPX4 ratings), but the open design of Oladance may dissipate heat better.
For my own needs, especially when I am looking for the best headphones for gym sessions where I might be running or doing high-rep lifting, I would personally choose the Lifeworks Oladance OWS Pro. The open-ear design is simply too comfortable to ignore when you are pushing through a tough workout; the ability to breathe and stay aware of my environment without sacrificing audio quality is a non-negotiable feature for me. However, if your priority is total immersion and you want to shut out the world with active noise cancellation and get double the battery life, the Sony WF-C710N is the superior technical machine. In my opinion, the Sony is the better all-around media consumer, but the Oladance is the winner for the specific use case of being active and safe.
Both are strong contenders, but the Oladance OWS Pro is often preferred for its open-ear safety and comfort, while the Sony WF-C710N is better if you need to block out loud gym noise with active cancellation.
Yes, both the Sony WF-C710N and the Lifeworks Oladance OWS Pro support Bluetooth 5.3 multipoint pairing, allowing you to connect to two devices simultaneously without re-pairing.
The Sony WF-C710N offers up to 30 hours of total listening time with its charging case, whereas the Lifeworks Oladance OWS Pro provides up to 19 hours, making the Sony more suitable for extended travel without charging.
Yes, it features an IPX4 rating, meaning it is resistant to splashes and sweat, making it safe for intense workouts and rainy conditions, similar to the Sony model.
