I also can't open Vegas Pro 20 on windows 20 after closing the program. I've tried the ctrl-alt-del and killed the process but I still can not get vegas to open. The only way to get it to open is by restarting the computer. Then vegas opens fine and runs no problem but if I close the program y will have to reboot the computer again if I want to open vegas again. I also tried login out of windows and logging back in but it did not work

You ABSOLUTELY need this one for Win 7: -all-vegas/

(Because, as someone mentioned, when you close Vegas, it remains in the task manager "Processes" list and must be "killed" manually, OR with the above button/program, which you should just place on the desk to, either the small program itself or shortcut. It instantaneously wipes vegas1x0.exe off the Processes active list).

(btw, people that jump in too quickly with the idea that you CANNOT use Vegas with Win 7 ....????????? why don't you talk about what YOU KNOW to be true????, It obviously works, a user might have issues with SOME third party offerings, case by case, e.g. I don't think Vegas Image (in Vegas Post) will work, but Vegas Effects works, [which is Hit Film] )

There is a lot to dislike, IMHO, with Win 10. If one is worried about security, run your Spybot or other "purging" program regularly OR keep it off the internet as much as possible.

The other thing with vegas , the render times aren't very good. On adobe it'll actually use all 24 cores and fill my ram to the brim , while editing and rendering. it really gets the most out of whatever hardware it's got.

When i make gameplay videos and try to edit them in vegas, then also use audacity to open up the file from vegas it keeps asking me to install audacity which i currently have, so therefore i cannot edit my voice chat in auadcity, can somebody pls help me thanks.

As an alternative, if you have 8GB of RAM or more then you can just download windows 10 from MS for free and run it in virtualbox. You can integrate it so well Vegas will just be another window on your Ubuntu desktop. Use samba to share the relevant folders with your Windows VM, and share the C:\ drive in the VM with Ubuntu, and you can do anything you need to in the Windows directories right from bash and nautilus.

My old sony vaio PCG 8U1M has had its hard disk reoplaced and so i no longer have the original vaio operating system running - instead runnning on windows xp - but its my only computer with fire wire connection and i want to edit videos using sony vegas - i cant find the laptop specs anywhere (and the stick on specs on the case have worn off! - so what i want to find out is can I run the latest sony vegas software on it or is it just too limited and slow and instead do i need to buy a new lap top with firewire?

Thanks Blencogo for this - now I see it is a VGN A517M - not sure which version of vegas as I have not got it yet - not HD as I'm filming with a SONY PD170P DV/DVCAM. Anyway I have looked up specs with this model number....so that's been useful, thanks

In this how to video, you will learn how to install Sony Vegas or any other Windows software on to a Mac. This will be useful if you cannot find a Mac equivalent of a Windows program. First, you will need Boot Camp Assistant. This will allow you to run any windows program on your Mac. Open the program and press continue. Next, you can select how big you want the Windows partition to be. You can select the 32 gigabytes button, or adjust it manually by sliding it. Next, select Partition. Once this is done, you will be able to run any Windows software on your computer.

Do you have a particular layout you like working with in Sony Vegas? Did you know you can save those layouts and come back to them later? Feel free to move all the windows around to your liking and go to View > Window Layouts > Save Layout As and give it a name. Once saved, you can come back to any layout by going to View > Window Layouts and choosing your saved layout or using the assigned shortcut key. This is especially useful when you use different layouts for video editing, sound editing or even color correcting.
