If you want a rugged, water-resistant radio that stays put on a large head while you run or cycle, choose Sony SRFHM55; if you need a lightweight, noise-cancelling headset for long computer calls and gaming, choose Logitech H111. These two devices solve completely different problems, yet they both occupy the over-ear space with distinct philosophies. One is built like a tank for the outdoors, while the other is engineered as a precision tool for the desk. Choosing between them isn't about which one sounds "better" in a vacuum; it is about whether your day takes place on a trail or behind a screen. I have analyzed the design specs, materials, and intended use cases to help you decide which one fits your specific needs, especially if you are looking for best sports earbuds for big head solutions or simply need something that doesn't pinch.
• Sony SRFHM55: Built from high-impact plastic with rubber gaskets and water-resistant seals to survive sweat and rain; the trade-off is its reliance on AA batteries rather than rechargeable power.
• Logitech H111: Features ultra-soft foam cushions and a rotating boom mic for superior voice clarity during video calls; the trade-off is that it lacks any water resistance and is strictly for indoor use.
• Best for outdoor athletes and runners: The Sony model offers a secure dual adjustable headband designed to handle movement without slipping, making it a strong contender for best bone conduction headphones for big head users who need stability.
• Best for remote workers and gamers: The Logitech option provides a 7.71 ft cable for freedom of movement and active noise cancellation for the microphone, ideal for professional communication.
The Sony SRFHM55 is not just a pair of headphones; it is a dedicated AM/FM stereo headphone radio built for the active lifestyle. Its primary strength lies in its construction. The enclosure is made of high-impact plastic, but more importantly, it utilizes rubber gaskets, bushings, and water-resistant seals. This design choice means the device is specifically engineered to keep out moisture, dirt, and dust. If you plan to use this device while jogging in light rain, cycling through mist, or working out in a humid gym, the Sony unit is protected against elements that would destroy a standard electronic accessory. The flexible FM antenna includes a light reflector, adding a layer of safety for early morning or evening runs where visibility matters.

For someone with a larger head, the fit is a critical factor often overlooked until purchase. This model features a dual adjustable headband that adjusts on either side. This mechanism is designed to distribute pressure evenly, ensuring a secure fit even during vigorous activity. The ear placement is over-ear, utilizing dynamic drivers with a frequency range of 20 Hz to 20,000 Hz. While it is a radio, the audio quality is enhanced by large drivers and an auto volume limiter that minimizes distortion, delivering powerful speakers for high-quality sound. The inclusion of a built-in digital clock and battery life indicator adds practical utility, allowing you to monitor your energy levels without needing to check a separate device.
However, this durability comes with specific constraints. The device runs on two AA-size batteries, which are not included. While this offers up to 33 hours of runtime—a significant advantage for long hikes or multi-day trips—it also means you must carry spare batteries. There is no internal rechargeable battery, so you cannot plug it into a USB port overnight. Additionally, the lack of a microphone or connectivity for smartphones limits its use to listening only. It is not a communication device. If you are looking for best over ear headphones for big head options that double as a phone headset for calls, this is not the right tool. It is a singular-purpose device: a robust radio for movement.
The Logitech H111 is designed with a singular focus: clear communication and comfort for extended periods of stationary use. Unlike the rugged Sony, the H111 prioritizes softness and versatility for the modern office or home setup. The ear cushions are made of ultra-soft foam, wrapped in faux leather and plastic, providing a plush seal around the ears. This design ensures that even after hours of wearing them for a webinar or a long gaming session, your ears do not feel fatigued. The headband is adjustable, giving you a customized fit that accommodates various head shapes, including larger ones, though it lacks the specialized locking mechanisms found on sports gear.
The standout feature here is the noise-cancelling microphone. The boom can be rotated 180 degrees to wear on either the left or right side, offering flexibility depending on your dominant hand or workspace layout. When positioned, the flexible mic captures your voice while reducing room noise, making it excellent for Skype calls, webinars, or online classes. The 7.71 ft (235cm) cable is a generous length, granting you the freedom to stand up and stretch during long conversations without unplugging. The device supports active noise cancellation for the microphone, ensuring your voice remains crisp even in a busy environment.
This headset is compatible with a vast array of operating systems, including Windows 10 and later, Mac OS X, Chrome OS, Linux, iOS, and Android, provided they have a 3.5mm jack. However, it is strictly a wired device with no wireless capability despite the listing mentioning Wi-Fi in some broad categories; the physical connection is the only way to get audio. It does not have water resistance, so a splash of sweat could damage the electronics. The warranty covers two years, which speaks to its reliability for daily use. If you need best sports earbuds for big head solutions that involve intense sweating, avoid this; it is meant for the climate-controlled environment of a home office or classroom.
• Best for battery life → Sony SRFHM55: With a rated 33-hour runtime on AA batteries, it outlasts almost any consumer headset, perfect for all-day outdoor events.
• Best value for voice calls → Logitech H111: The active noise-cancelling microphone and rotating boom make it superior for talking compared to the Sony's music-only design.
• Best for water resistance → Sony SRFHM55: Rubber gaskets and seals protect against moisture, whereas the Logitech H111 has no such protection and should stay dry.
• Best for comfort during long sessions → Logitech H111: Ultra-soft foam cushions provide a plush feel that is likely more comfortable for sedentary work than the harder plastic of the Sony.
• Best for mobility without cables → Neither: Both are wired, but the Sony uses batteries for independence from a wall, while the Logitech relies on a 7.71 ft cord for movement.
• Best for security of fit during motion → Sony SRFHM55: The dual adjustable headband is engineered specifically to prevent slippage during running or cycling.
• Best for microphone versatility → Logitech H111: The ability to rotate the boom 180 degrees and tuck it away offers functional flexibility the Sony lacks entirely.
• Best for durability in harsh conditions → Sony SRFHM55: High-impact plastic and sealed components ensure it survives drops and weather better than the standard office headset.
In my opinion, the Sony SRFHM55 is the superior choice for anyone with a larger head who leads an active lifestyle. The dual adjustable headband and rugged, water-resistant build make it uniquely capable of handling the physical demands of exercise, which is often the biggest pain point for people with bigger heads finding gear that stays put. While the Logitech H111 is an excellent office companion with great comfort, it simply cannot compete in the realm of durability and fit stability for movement. If you are looking for the best sports earbuds for big head experience that actually functions as a standalone radio, the Sony is the clear winner. I would buy the Sony SRFHM55 because it solves the problem of staying secure and dry while moving, whereas the Logitech is too fragile for that environment.
Both models feature adjustable headbands, but the Sony SRFHM55 is specifically noted for its dual adjustable headband designed to provide a secure fit during vigorous activity, making it a strong candidate for those seeking best over ear headphones for big head.
