If you want a dedicated over-ear setup with up to 150 feet of wireless range for construction work near a safe listening area, choose Sony Lightweight; if you need compact Bluetooth earbuds with ANC and Ambient mode for moving between Galaxy devices, choose SAMSUNG Galaxy Buds 3-FE.
Sony Lightweight vs SAMSUNG Galaxy Buds 3-FE at a Glance
• Sony Lightweight: Over-ear design, 40 mm drivers, included transmitter and charging dock, and up to 150 feet of RF range; the trade-off is that it depends on its transmitter rather than Bluetooth.
• SAMSUNG Galaxy Buds 3-FE: In-ear Bluetooth earbuds with ANC, Ambient mode, and Galaxy-device switching; the trade-off is a shorter stated battery figure of up to 8.5 hours of uninterrupted play with ANC off.
• Sony suits: Listening from home or a stationary work area where the transmitter can stay connected to the audio source.
• Samsung suits: People who want small earbuds for calls, commuting, and moving among compatible Galaxy devices.
• For construction work: Choose based on whether you need a home-style RF headset or portable Bluetooth earbuds—not on presumed protection from job-site conditions.
Sony Lightweight is an over-ear wireless headset made for TV, computer, and Hi-Fi listening. Its 40 mm dynamic drivers are described as delivering broad, balanced sound, while the padded ear cups are intended for extended listening. The transmitter dock is included, and the wireless connection can reach up to 150 feet, making this the more natural fit for listening at home while moving between nearby rooms.
That setup could suit someone who wants a headphone for construction work only in a controlled setting—for example, handling paperwork or planning tasks in a quiet office away from active equipment. The long wireless reach is useful when the audio source stays near the dock but the listener needs room to move. The listed battery life is up to 20 hours, though charging takes seven hours.

I would skip Sony if you need Bluetooth earbuds to pair directly with a phone, or if you need compact gear for carrying around a job site. Sony uses RF wireless technology, and the supplied information does not describe water or dust resistance. Its over-ear design and transmitter dock make it a dedicated listening setup, not an all-purpose rugged work accessory.
Samsung’s earbuds are the more portable choice. They connect over Bluetooth 5.3, sit in the ear, and come with small, medium, and large ear tips. ANC is available to reduce outside noise; Ambient mode offers a way to hear more of the surroundings while listening. That combination gives the wearer options, but it does not establish that the earbuds provide hearing protection.
For calls and everyday listening, the feature set is more flexible than Sony’s home-focused arrangement. Samsung lists an added microphone and background-noise reduction for calls, plus hands-free Gemini access on compatible setups. The buds can also switch among Galaxy devices such as a phone, tablet, and PC. For a Samsung user who wants one small pair for several daily situations, those are meaningful conveniences.
The stated battery figure is up to 8.5 hours of uninterrupted playback with ANC off, and up to 30 hours of total listening with the case. I would skip these if your priority is a long single listening session without returning the earbuds to the case, or if you need a product explicitly rated for wet or dusty work. The supplied details do not list a water- or dust-resistance rating.
• Best for a long single listening session → Sony Lightweight. Its listed battery life is up to 20 hours, compared with Samsung’s up to 8.5 hours of playback with ANC off.
• Best for Bluetooth portability → SAMSUNG Galaxy Buds 3-FE. They connect over Bluetooth 5.3 and do not rely on a separate transmitter dock.
• Best for switching between compatible Galaxy devices → SAMSUNG Galaxy Buds 3-FE. The product information describes automatic switching among Galaxy phone, tablet, and PC.
• Best for choosing between noise reduction and awareness → SAMSUNG Galaxy Buds 3-FE. ANC and Ambient mode give different listening options; neither should be confused with certified hearing protection.
• Best for an over-ear fit and included charging dock → Sony Lightweight. The package includes the wireless headset transmitter and charging dock.
• Best for hands-free voice assistance and calls → SAMSUNG Galaxy Buds 3-FE. Samsung lists voice access to Gemini on compatible configurations and call-focused microphone enhancements.
• Best waterproof open ear headphones for construction work → Neither is established by the supplied specifications. Sony is over-ear, Samsung is in-ear, and neither sheet provides a water-resistance rating or an open-ear design.
• Best fit for someone searching for Bluetooth gaming headphones for construction work → SAMSUNG only if Bluetooth is the priority, but with limits. Sony is RF, not Bluetooth; Samsung is Bluetooth, but the supplied details do not specify gaming latency or job-site durability.
The choice is less about declaring one universally better and more about matching the connection to the way you listen. Sony is the more compelling option when the source stays at a dock and extended over-ear listening matters. Samsung makes more sense when portability, phone calls, and Bluetooth are central.
For construction work specifically, I would be cautious with both. Neither product’s supplied details establish resistance to water, dust, impact, or high noise levels. ANC can reduce perceived outside sound, but it is not a substitute for appropriate hearing protection or awareness of nearby hazards.
I’d choose Sony Lightweight for a quiet work area where I want an over-ear headset, long playback, and the freedom to move up to 150 feet from its transmitter.
For active construction work, though, I would not call either one a job-site-ready choice based on these specifications.
If I needed earbuds for calls and Galaxy-device use away from the work zone, I’d pick Samsung.
My recommendation for construction work is Sony only for controlled, non-hazardous listening—not as protective or rugged work gear.
No. Sony uses RF wireless technology and connects through its included transmitter dock. If direct Bluetooth pairing is essential, the Samsung earbuds are the match here.
Sony lists up to 20 hours of battery life. Samsung lists up to 8.5 hours of uninterrupted playback with ANC off, with up to 30 hours of total listening when using the case.
The supplied specifications do not give either product a water-resistance rating. I would not assume either is waterproof or designed for dusty, wet, or otherwise demanding job-site conditions.
Samsung is the more portable call-focused option, with Bluetooth, an added microphone, background-noise reduction, and hands-free voice-assistant features on compatible setups. Sony is better suited to a transmitter-based listening arrangement for TV, computer, or Hi-Fi audio.
