Our research focuses on the development of new and sustainable synthetic methodologies using earth-abundant copper catalysts. We aim to uncover new catalytic reactivities of underexplored organic molecules and transform them into versatile synthetic building blocks. Particular emphasis is placed on the efficient construction of C–N and other C–heteroatom bonds for the synthesis of valuable nitrogen-containing molecules.
We develop catalytic late-stage functionalization strategies for structurally complex and biologically active molecules. Our goal is to enable rapid and selective molecular diversification, providing efficient access to new analogues with potential applications in medicinal chemistry and drug discovery.
We explore visible-light-mediated synthetic approaches for the construction of complex and underexplored heterocycles. By harnessing mild photochemical activation, we seek to access unique molecular architectures that are difficult to prepare by conventional methods and investigate their potential as drug-like and biologically relevant molecules.
