Hi there! I’m Daniel, the developer of Sonora.
First off, thank you so much for trying out the app — I built Sonora because I wanted a local music player that gave users more control over the UI.
This page is here to help you get the most out of the app. If you have any questions, feedback, or run into a bug, feel free to reach out — I’d love to hear from you.
Sonora is a local music player that lets you play your own audio files and customize how you listen.
🎵 File support: MP3, FLAC, AIFF, M4A
🎚 Player customization: Change playback controls, layouts, and appearances
🎨 Themes and UI options: Adjust compact player, now playing screen, and album grid
📂 Library management: Easily delete tracks or entire albums from within the app
Sonora is completely free to use — all features are available without restrictions.
No. Sonora only plays music that you import manually. There is no online component.
Go to Library Settings and Tap on Update Library. If you imported your music with the Files app check if your music files have complete metadata information. Sonora relies on the title and album metadata tags to correctly identify and organize songs.
Use the in-app importer (recommended)
Go to Library Settings
Choose a folder (and any subfolders) with your music
Sonora will scan all folders and list the supported files (MP3, FLAC, AIFF, M4A)
You can review the results before confirming the import
Enable Auto-Update to populate the albums list immediately after each import, or use the Update Library button manually
Tip: The importer will warn you if any files are missing key metadata like title or album — those won’t show up in the albums list.
You can drag in files or folders via Finder (Mac) or the Files app (iOS) into Sonora's folder
After dropping files, open Sonora, go to Library Settings and tap Update Library to refresh the album list
Important: This method skips file validation. If any files are missing the title or album tags, they won’t appear in the albums screen.
Head to the Library Settings section. You can delete entire albums or specific tracks. Deletions only affect Sonora’s internal copy of the files.
