Seung Yoon (Sonny) Lee is a Ph.D. candidate at the mmWave Antennas and Arrays Laboratory at Georgia Institute of Technology. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Computer and Communication Engineering from Korea University, Seoul, Korea, in 2016, followed by an M.S. degree in Electrical Engineering from Pohang University of Science and Technology (POSTECH), Pohang, Korea, in 2018.

His research interests include mmWave on-chip antennas, antenna integration and glass packaging, RF devices using vanadium dioxide (VO2) phase change material, and robotic antenna measurement techniques. From 2018 to 2020, he was with the R&D department of SK Hynix, Icheon, South Korea, working as a semiconductor modeling engineer. From 2020 to 2022, he was with the 6G Research Team, Samsung Research, Seoul, as an RF/Antenna Engineer. He interned at Tesla in Fremont, CA, USA, in 2025 as a Vehicle Hardware RF (EMC) Engineer. He has published 10 peer-reviewed journal articles, 15 international conference papers, and is the inventor of 19 patents.

He is the recipient of the 2025 IMS Core Facilities Seed Grant from Georgia Tech, the Best Student Presentation Award from KSEA Southeastern Regional Conference in Orlando, FL, the 3rd Prize of the Student Paper Competition at the 2024 IEEE International Symposium on Phased Array Systems and Technology in Boston, MA, the 2023 IEEE AP-S Doctoral Research Grant, the 2023 IEEE AP-S Ph.D. Student Travel Grant, the 2023 CREATION Award from Georgia Tech, the 2018 Outstanding Master’s Thesis Award (Top rank in EE) from POSTECH, and the 1st Prize for Best Paper Student Award at the 2018 IEEE International Symposium on Antennas and Propagation in Busan, Korea. He has served as a reviewer for IEEE.
