Despite "My Heart" being about heartbreak, it has empowered me to never lose sight of my dream of becoming a published poet. My professor at SFASU felt that this poem had the potential to be published, but the publisher he referred me to said that it couldn't. Years later, "My Heart '', a poem I wrote when I was in high school, is now published. Moral of the story, NEVER let another person's opinion cause you to give up on your dreams!
