Sonja Zlatović, PhD

Diploma in Civil Engineering at the University of Zagreb, Faculty of Civil Engineering. Master's degree from the same Faculty, with work done at the Gdansk University of Technology.

Doctoral degree earned at the University of Tokyo with mentor Professor Kenji Ishihara. 

(Department of Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering Laboratory).

Worked in soil mechanics and geotechnical engineering, geotechnical laboratory, geotechnical earthquake engineering, and earthquake engineering.

After working as a structural designer for the Consulting project, Zagreb worked as an assistant and assistant professor at the Faculty of Civil Engineering, University of Zagreb.

From the year 2003 to the year 2023, teaching at the Zagreb University of Applied Sciences, earlier Polytechnic of Zagreb, Department of Civil Engineering.

From the year 2003 to the year 2006, vice-rector for education and students. 

Founded the second cycle of the professional study programmes at the Polytechnic of Zagreb.

Wrote a textbook in Croatian: Introduction to the Soil Mechanics (Uvod u mehaniku tla).

Taught Soil Mechanics, Geotechnical Engineering, Quality Management, and Modern Methods in Geotechnical Engineering at the Zagreb University of Applied Sciences (Zagreb, Croatia), and Earthquake Geotechnical Engineering at the Turku University of Applied Sciences (Turku, Finland). 

Very interested and active in affirmation of Geotechnical Engineering,  one of the key persons in the organization of the Danubian Conference in Porec, May 1998,  gave a significant contribution to the organization of Eurock 2009, and to many national and some international conferences, especially as vice-president for Varaždin 2016 and president of Sisak 2023.
