SONIC STRING ENSEMBLE
NOW BOOKING FOR 2025 AND 2026 EVENTS
Their love of music! The Sonic String Ensemble is made up of Kathryn Honnig (Violin), Cassie Jin (Violin), Anthony Preucil (Viola) and Nick Jin (Cello). The ensemble was formed in 2021 and has played for multiple weddings and events (both indoor and outdoor) throughout southern and central New Jersey as well as Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
We perform a variety of music from classical and romantic eras, to movie/video game soundtracks, as well as pop songs. The Sonic Ensemble sets themselves apart from other groups through their professionalism, quick communication and response time, and flexibility. Both Nick and Anthony are avid music arrangers so almost any song can be performed by the group (see Music for our repertoire list). We are excited to hear from you and be a part of your event!
Kathryn Honnig has been playing the violin since the age of seven. She pursued her passion for music alongside her academic studies at Rowan University, where she majored in Economics and minored in Music. At Rowan, Kathryn studied under Dr. Timothy Schwarz and Luigi Mazzocchi and performed with the Rowan University Symphony Orchestra and String Ensemble. Her talent earned her recognition in the university's concerto competition, where she was first runner-up in 2022 and the winner in 2023.
Currently, Kathryn teaches violin both privately and at Stibol Music in Princeton Junction, New Jersey. Her skills have also been showcased on several songs by singer-songwriter Isabella Dussias. Beyond music, Kathryn is a dedicated dancer and a second company member of Philadanco’s D-2, under the artistic direction of Donald T. Lunsford.
Cassandra Jin started playing violin at the age of six. Growing up, she played in the New Jersey Regional and All-State Orchestras, as well as in the Ann Newman Quartet at the Settlement School of Music under the instruction of Sid Curtiss. Cassandra recently graduated from Amherst College where she served as concertmistress of the Amherst Symphony Orchestra for three years and played in various chamber groups, at times working with the Juilliard Quartet, Ray Chen, and other renowned musicians. She currently sits assistant concertmistress of the Baltimore Philharmonia Orchestra. Her love of playing chamber music brought her to the Sonic String Ensemble, and she hopes to bring joy to your most special days through this quartet!
Anthony Preucil has been playing the violin since he was three years old, and began playing the viola at age twelve. Anthony's professional appearances have included Midsummer’s Music Festival in Door County, Wisconsin, the Pennsylvania Chamber Orchestra and the Altoona Symphony Orchestra. Anthony studied Meteorology and Atmospheric Science at Penn State University while also pursuing a minor in music performance. While in college, Anthony was a member of the Penn State Philharmonic and Chamber Orchestras and performed chamber music with the Gallitzin String Quartet. Currently, Anthony serves as assistant concertmaster with the Philharmonic of Southern New Jersey, and is a founding member of the Sonic String Ensemble. He teaches violin and viola at Mischief Studios in Pennington New Jersey. His hobbies include astronomy, juggling, and hiking.
Nicholas Jin is a cellist and engineer based in Princeton, NJ. He earned his degree in cello performance focusing on 20th century and contemporary composers from the George Washington University studying with Professors Lori Barnet and Ning Yu. Past ensemble experience includes NJ Regional and State Orchestras, the Philharmonic of Southern New Jersey, Princeton University Sinfonia, the Gail W. Snitzer String Quartet coached by Sid Curtiss and Carol Auger Contemporary Ensemble coached by Linda Reichert, among others. Being able to share his love of classical music with wedding parties has been an immensely rewarding experience!
