Sonic Labs began in 2022 (formerly titled Free improvisation) as a series of accessible monthly music workshops held at the Stove Cafe in Dumfries (South West Scotland). It has since evolved into an arts organsiation and network; offering workshops, group improvisation sessions, artist talks, and live events for the wider community. Our core values include;
-Skilsharing and building a network for collaborators
-Access to music for all
-The promotion of new sound art
-Providing opportunities for artist
All workshops are free to attend and we welcome ALL with an interest in music making.
We support performance opportunities for the artists in our network by offering live events and collaborations with festivals and arts organistions.

Our members work with community groups, including young people and those that face access barriers, in order to provide skills and opporunities through music practice.
