Sonic Runners Adventure is a side-scrolling, endless runner, platformer video game in the Sonic the Hedgehog series, developed and published by Gameloft. It is the sequel to Sonic Runners. The game was first released in select regions on 10 June 2017 and was soft-launched again on 9 August 2017. The game officially released on both iOS and Android platforms on 20 December 2017.

Sonic Runners Adventure is a endless runner featuring the famous hedgehog, in what may be the perfect platform for the gaming icon. After all, it is on mobile, and short bursts of play suit Sonic. The game also feels satisfyingly fast. That's just what you want from any Sonic title. However, there are free endless runners out there, compared to the fixed price of Sonic. Of course, this means there is no waiting to play and no micro transactions.

This 2D side-scrolling runner blends the original Genesis games, with a striking comic look and endless one-tap action, all of which it does well. Unfortunately, it then sabotages this with too many breaks in the action and ways to limit your fun.

Sonic Runners is a fun, colorful, and well-designed endless runner that shoots itself in the foot with poor pacing. A simple instant replay option would have gone a long way to improving this - but by adding a verbose story, and too many screens of brightly colored rewards, the quality of the gameplay is rapidly diluted.

Sonic Runners Adventure is an endless runner platform game published by Gameloft for iOS, Android and Java-based mobile phones. As part of the Sonic the Hedgehog series, the game serves as a sequel to 2015's Sonic Runners. The game was first released in select regions in June 2017 and worldwide in August 2017.[1]

Similar to its predecessor Sonic Runners, Sonic Runners Adventure is a platform game with endless runner elements. Players choose between several different characters, each with unique abilities. Players must guide their chosen character through a series of levels based on locations in Sonic Generations and Sonic Lost World. Characters automatically move forward, so players must tap their screen to avoid obstacles and enemies. Scattered around levels are golden rings, which serve as a form of health: rings protect the player from enemies or obstacles, though they scatter when the player is hit and blink before disappearing. Several changes from the original game have been made as well; the game can be played offline, and there are three types of levels in the game: "Finite", "Looped", and "Infinite".[2]

Looking at the game FAQ is a bit uncanny.

One of the FAQ answers confirms a few of more unique buddies are back (RC UFO, Yacker, Wizard Chao) - the leveling system is still there (wasn't it up to like 100 before? it's now up to 5) - teams are in and you buy them with rings like before.

Also they've gutted the friend system out, so there's no farming extra tries this time around.

I really get a vibe like they basically got the source code for runners and built around it. Not that I mind if that's true, core game was good, it was all the other nonsense that bogged it down. I'm gonna be bummed if it's Android only though - surely it'll be both platforms?

I think the thing I'm liking most is the sheer fact that we no longer have the bullshit roulette to deal with. Really hoping it's just a paid app for like 0.99 to 3, no F2P nonsense, no live system, no online connection, just a proper endless runner.

Sonic Runners[a] was a 2015 endless runner game in the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise for Android and iOS. It was developed by Sonic Team as its first Sonic game exclusive to smartphones and published by Sega. In Sonic Runners, the player-character constantly ran forward, and players controlled their jumping from a side-scrolling perspective using the touchscreen. The game was free-to-play, featured a wide variety of playable characters from the Sonic series, and received periodic updates.

Sonic Runners' existence came to light in July 2014 after publisher Sega registered the domain name sonicrunners.com.[14] Iizuka confirmed the game was real at the Tokyo Joypolis convention on December 28, 2014 and announced that it would launch in 2015.[15] A teaser trailer and more details were revealed in early February 2015.[16] Sega soft launched Sonic Runners in Canada and Japan on February 26, 2015 for testing purposes and released the final version worldwide on June 25, 2015.[17][18]

The final version received "mixed or average reviews", according to the review aggregator Metacritic.[19] Generally, reviewers believed the core gameplay was enjoyable.[2][3][20] TouchArcade considered it better than Sonic Dash and praised its fan service and content.[2] Destructoid and Jim Sterling felt the game was well-designed; Destructoid said it had depth and succeeded as both a platformer and a Sonic game,[3] and Sterling wrote that in terms of gameplay it was better than most endless runners.[20] However, the game's amount of ads and pay to play elements were extensively criticized.[2][3][20] Sterling believed they were intrusive and made the game over-complex,[20] and Destructoid said they were "unreasonable" and "exhausting".[3] TouchArcade wrote that "any free-to-play monetization gimmick you can think of it, Sonic Runners has it."[2] Technical problems, such as crashes and lengthy load times, were also criticized.[2][20]

Sonic the Hedgehog and his friends are back in a brand-new runner! Relive his super-speedy adventures as you jump, dash and fly through exciting platforming levels. Unlock new characters including Tails, Knuckles and more, each with their own unique abilities you can power up. Save Sonic's universe by fighting Eggman across 4 iconic locations.

Sonic Runners Adventure is a side-scrolling endless runner platformer video game in the Sonic the Hedgehog series, developed and published by Gameloft for Android mobile platforms. It is the sequel to Sonic Runners. The game was first released in select regions on 10 June 2017.

Similar to Sonic Dash, Sonic Runners was an "endless runner", in which Sonic the Hedgehog, Miles "Tails" Prower or Knuckles the Echidna automatically run forward; the player controlling their jumps and special moves by touching the screen at the correct moments. Unlike Sonic Dash, Runners was played from a 2D perspective and had different stages instead of one stage that endlessly goes on. The game also incorporated a buddy system in which you could have up to two buddies (these include a variety of items and characters, such as Chao) tag along and help you in different ways.

If The Order's getting you down, here's a mobile pick-me-up: Alto's Adventure is a very attractive endless runner which casts you as a snowboarder, but it has a Journey vibe to its launch trailer (below). It's out now for iOS, and I'll probably be picking it up because there are llamas in it and, as Jeff Minter made clear years ago, llamas are freaking great. ff782bc1db
