We have a UPM hosted High Performance Computer with a high amount of memory (1TB), fully accesible on single core. Its specifications are:
CPU: Intel(R) Xeon(R) W-3323
RAM: 1TB
GPU: NVIDIA RTX A5000 (24GB VRAM)
Storage:
Home partion: 500GB (10GB allowance)
Work partition: 1.8TB (SSD)
Raid HDD (storage partition): 17TB
Work manager: SLURM Workload Manager, VNC server available
This machine is specially suitable for tasks loads that require high memory allocations and are not easily paralelizable: analytic computations, certain big data loads,... There is also a GPU that allows for machine-learning and quantum computing simulations (among other tasks).
The machine is available for external UPM and no-UPM users, as part of the I+D+i research infrastructures program. The following conditions apply:
We are a small research group. Hence, we do not have dedicated IT staff for providing basic training to our lest skilled users. We will do our best to solve any issues but, please, apply only if you have a sensible GNU/Linux and general IT knowledge.
Application procedure:
You must fill-in the application form that is available here, and sign it with your and your supervisor's or director's digital signatures. DNIe or FNMT digital certificates are accepted. Note that there is a procedure for obtaining a FNMT digital certificate on a Spanish embassy or consulate. The application form requires you to sign our conditions, including the general UPM regulations. Please, read the application form for details.
Following the instructions written on this application form, we also require a Scientific Proposal and an updated CV of the main researcher.
The three PDF documents (application form, Scientific Proposal and CV) must be submitted to rafael.delgado@upm.es using your institutional email.
Access:
The access is through SSH with certificate. You must submit us your SSH public key, generated via ssh-keygen, in order to give you access to your account. For security purposes, we will require you to submit your public key either on-person or, at least, printing it to a PDF document and having it signed with your DNIe or FNMT digital certificate.
The ADAI machine can be reached only from within the UPM network (including the UPMvpn for offsite access). If you do not qualify for a UPMvpn account (no-UPM users), we can make exceptions for single static external IPs (a static IPv4, usually your professional desktop computer).
The machine is based on AlmaLinux 9. Usage of GNU/Linux from the command line is required.
The workloads (including GUI sessions via VNC) must be submitted via the SLURM Workload Manager.
