Soni Wadhwa currently teaches in the Department of Literature and Languages at SRM University, Andhra Pradesh. Her digital archive of Sindhi books, PG Sindhi Library, is dedicated to post-partition book history and Sindhi literature published in India. Her project on Sindhi libraries in India is funded by IIT Indore. She contributes regularly to Asian Review of Books, Digital Orientalist, and Full Stop. She has received an EV grant for her research on the making of Sindhi literature as an Indian literature.
She was Joint Director (Research) with Maritime History Society in Mumbai, a think tank (established by Western Naval Command, Indian Navy) that focuses on India’s maritime history.
As an educator, she has worked with students at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. She was a full-time lecturer in Mass Media at Wilson College and continued to teach BMM at St Andrew’s College – both in Mumbai.
Informally, she has also worked with different brands conceptualising their commercial content. This industry experience in content and advertising complements her academic understanding of the mass media and business communication.
In recent times, her academic writing has been published in journals such as Digital Library Perspectives, Island Studies Journal, Journal of Postcolonial Writing, Interventions, Modern Jewish Studies, Feminist Theology, cultural geographies, South Asia and Research.
