We use AirTable, a cloud-based database service. The sheets and cells can be manipulated like those in Microsoft Excel. The sheets and cell can also be read on mobile devices. It is still in construction, and hence can be only read and heard, downloading is not possible as of now.
In order to search for a word, simply click the magnifier icon, and type the word of your preference. You may search in the following languages: Japanese with Romanized spelling, English, French, Tanzanian Swahili, Congo Swahili, and Songola, and also Latin for plants and animals.
To view the sketches and pictures or to listen to the recordings simply double-click the thumbnails in the table. To understand the relationship between the pronunciation and its spelling, please click the second tub of Vocabulary and listen to the sound files V0001-V0004.
The cloud-based database can be accessed and used and revised from anywhere in the world. We plan to make this database grow richer by inviting participants who agree to add information, sounds and pictures from where the Songola live.
We use AirTable because:
1) It is basically free up to 2000 lines,
2) it can be written and read quite easily, and
3) it can be maintained by members from all over the world (Africa, Europe, and Japan).
