Singer Sonu Nigam opened up about why he decided to work with music director Pritam again after his Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani snub. In a new interview, Sonu spoke about the 'trend' of making several artistes sing the same song for trial and then choosing one of them. The 48-year-old singer also revealed that singer Sreerama Chandra was chosen over him as the voice of the song Subhanallah.

Sonu Nigam has thousands of songs across several languages to his credit. Subhanallah, eventually sung by Sreerama Chandra, was part of the 2013 film Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani. Pritam was the music director of the film. Sreerama Chandra won Indian Idol season 5. Incidentally, Sonu was a judge on seasons 1, 2 and 9 of the reality show.

In an interview with Bollywood Hungama, Sonu spoke about his call with Pritam a few months ago, asking him to come onboard for Aamir Khan-starrer Laal Singh Chaddha. He said, "Pritam, very nicely he said, 'Sonu you are very special to me. I have a very special connection with you because you sang in my debut. You're a part of my debut. I've much respect for you. I don't want, and it happens nowadays, that a song is sung by multiple people and then one is chosen from there'. Now, this is the trend but I don't want to be a part of that. Pritam also told me the same thing, 'This is why I'm asking you to be a part of a song that will not be sung by any other singer'. This was Aamir's decision that 'Sonu Nigam will sing this song'. So since the producer and star has said, so now it won't be that 'Let us make Sonu also sing the song and then compare'."

"Aaja doob jaoon teri aankhon ke ocean mein, 'slow motion' mein!" - we can expect only Salman Khan to pull off such a bona-fide Bollywood masala number. The first song from Salman Khan's Bharat playlist - Slow Motion - is here and will win you over in slo-mo. The song is set in 1964 when Salman Khan AKA Bharat was a daredevil bike stuntman at The Great Russian Circus and Disha Patani was a charming trapeze artiste. Bharat was clearly smitten by his colleague and the couple's love story is just what the song Slow Motion depicts. All members of The Great Russian Circus join in celebrating Bharat's love story.

The song is also the first proper glimpse of Disha Patani, who works with Salman Khan for the first time. Disha Patani already has a reputation for being a great dancer and with Slow Motion, she scores full marks on the dance floor. Disha in a body hugging crop saree look reminds us of Katrina Kaif from Chikni Chameli and Disha is as good as Katrina in the song.

Kabira is a Saint who has a very big name in indian poetic literature! From the early 17th or 18th century!Mainly known for his 'DOHA'! Doha is a type of poem who has two lines only... but it says 2000 words when u learnd the deep meaning of it! Kabira wrote many poems (Doha) showing his love to God but when u read them it sounds like a beautiful love lines to a lover n not God! In this song has one paragraph where the poet shows his anger n ruthlessness of his/lover n in other paragraph (the one which starts with d word re kabira) yhe poet calls back his lover! Maan ja means plz believe me.... ! So all in all.... the moral of the song is 'choose me love me come back to me oh.my dear!'

Yes agreed it refers to ranbir kapoor whose name in movie is kabir.where kabir has dreams to travel whole world and live life to fullest.he gets chance to live his dream he chooses his dream over love.and during this journey his dad dies and he will b unable to attend even his funeral .in this craze of travelling world he keeps loosing his friends and family .this song is to that kabir to come back to his love (naina)

Superb song with heart touching lyrics.

This is a Sufi song. In fact, all songs nowadays are Sufi songs. There is a story in the song. The story goes like this:

O my lover, you are so selfish, you don't choose anything, either heat or cold, you don't stay anywhere...

Means the lover does not interfere with his love's matters.Neither does he ever meet his love.Neither is he ever sad nor happy.

Then, a description of the hero.

He became his own prophet.Means a prophet tells what the Lord wishes him to say but here she says that you are saying what you yourself want to say or indirectly she is saying that you are just like God.

Then she says you have crossed(swam across) the seven seas.Means he has gone to many places. Then she says still their is dryness in his heart(His heart is barren). Means he could not enjoy anything.Neither the happiness or the sorrow.

Then she sadly remarks why like this my lover?

Then, starts the main song.

Kabira actually here refers refers not to the hero of the film Kabir but the hero of the song.

He is also refered to s "fakir" meaning saint.

Here shadows calling you refers to the lovers.Well, lovers because he is compared to God in the starting of the song,so the shadows are us ,the souls lovers of God.

Then, she says you are simply uninterested in everything(Nir mohi) and are ready to choose any path(Har Jai).

Means the hero is busy with himself only.He prefers to be alone.

Aayush nailed it on the translation. Kabira is the hero of the song. Neither quite the poet nor the hero of the film. What a beautiful explanation, Aayush.

Check out Aayush's explanation if you want to understand the song.

The film's composer Anu Malik seems to be seeing and talking to 3 ghosts to produce 3 songs for the soundtrack! Yes, of the 6 songs in the soundtrack 3 are 'inspired', to put it mildly. Thankfully, my favorite song from the film, 'Iss Pyaar Se Meri Taraf Na Dekho' is not one of them.

1. Let's take 'Bichhoo O Bichhoo', first. The song, filmed inside an unusually large train compartment, with Urmila and her friends chasing a bewildered Shah Rukh Khan all over the place while searching for a scorpion, is a racy and incredibly catchy song. The only problem is that Anu Malik is not the brain behind the tune.

It was a big hit and the British singer Petula Clark used the tune to create a French song titled 'Chariot' in 1962. It was created from the original to cater to Petula's vocal range, in a soulful, moody style. But you could hear a lot of Chamatkar's Bichoo even here!

But the most direct original of Bichoo is the 3rd and most popular iteration of 'I Will Follow Him', by 14-year-old Margaret Battavio, better known as Little Peggy March, in 1963! RCA producers Hugo Peretti and Luigi Creatore (known as 'Hugo and Luigi') discovered Margaret Battavio, named her Little Peggy March, possibly because she was only 4 ft 10 in tall (she was only 14 at that time, remember!), and gave her a reimagined version of Chariot/I Will Follow Him! The new tune was considerably uptempo and had a doo wop-style male chorus. The main chorus of the song is the core melody of Bichoo, by the way!

2. The 2nd Chamatkari song in the film is 'Jawani Diwani'. A curious feature of this song is that it features Baazigar's 'Yeh Kaali Kaali Aankhen' tune in the 2nd interlude! Chamatkar was released in 1992 and Baazigar in 1993, and Anu Malik composed music for both films.

Since I have already written about the origin of 'Yeh Kaali Kaali Aankhen', let me focus on 'Jawani Diwani's original. The original belongs to Boney M, the Euro-Caribbean group. The song is Bahama Mama, from Boney M's 4th album, Oceans Of Fantasy (1979). The first 4 lines of Bahama Mama has been used as-is by Anu Malik to create 'Jawani Diwani'.

Bappi Lahiri has used this tune back in 1981, for the film Armaan! The song was 'Mere Jaisi Haseena Ka Dil', sung by Sharon Prabhakar and Bappi Lahiri. Listen to Mere Jaisi Haseena Ka Dil (Armaan, 1981):

Does the tune belong to Bappi Lahiri? Of course not! It belongs to American rock band Dr.Hook, and the original song is 'When You're in Love with a Beautiful Woman', a 1979 single that joined the mega-successful disco wave of that period!
