Jon Fosse

The Nobel Prize in Literature has been conferred upon the 64-year-old Norwegian author, Jon Fosse, in recognition of his pioneering contributions in the realm of both plays and prose, which effectively articulate the inexpressible. Among his notable works are the Septology series of novels, "Aliss at the Fire," "Melancholy," and "A Shining."

Anders Olsson, the chairman of the Nobel committee for literature, remarked, "His extensive body of work, spanning a diverse range of genres, encompasses approximately 40 plays, along with an abundance of novels, collections of poetry, essays, children's literature, and translations. Fosse masterfully interweaves a deep connection to his Norwegian heritage, both in language and nature, with artistic innovations influenced by the modernist movement."

Washington Lodge joins with the Norwegian Community in celebration this honor.   Christine Meloni has written a number of articles on Fosse which are now very relevant.  We are pleased to share these articles with the Lodge.
