If you want best deep bass headband headphones for workout with long battery life and premium comfort, choose SOMIC Air One ANC; if you need waterproof earphones for workout precision in competitive gaming or focused training where isolation is critical, choose Sony INZONE E9. These two devices sit at opposite ends of the audio spectrum: one is a massive over-ear wireless experience built for endurance, while the other is a microscopic wired monitor engineered for tactical clarity and professional esports performance.
• SOMIC Air One ANC: Delivers 50 hours of playtime with hybrid active noise cancellation and spatial audio, but its bulky over-ear design may trap heat during high-intensity cardio. Best for users who prioritize all-day listening and deep bass immersion.
• Sony INZONE E9: Offers elite-level positional audio tuned by Fnatic pros with a sealed, low-profile fit that blocks distractions, yet it requires a PC connection via USB-C audio box and lacks wireless freedom. Best for competitive gamers and athletes needing total focus and zero latency.
The SOMIC Air One ANC is designed for the listener who wants to disappear into their own world without being tethered to a wall outlet. Its defining feature is the sheer longevity of its power system. With a claimed average life of 50 hours on a single charge, this headset can survive multiple weeks of commute or gym sessions before needing a plug. The rapid charging capability means a quick six-to-eight-hour charge session unlocks the full duration of playtime, which is ideal for those who forget to charge overnight or have erratic schedules.
Comfort is another pillar of this product, specifically targeting those who wear headphones for extended periods. The combination of memory foam cushions and a lightweight ergonomic design suggests it will stay comfortable even when worn under a helmet or during long workouts. The 50-millimeter dynamic drivers are positioned to deliver a rich soundstage, supporting the claim of ultra-immersive spatial audio with 360-degree head tracking. This isn't just about loud music; it is about feeling like you are inside a theater or a virtual environment.

However, the trade-off lies in its physical footprint. As an over-ear model, it covers the entire ear rather than sitting inside the canal. While this provides excellent passive isolation combined with adaptive noise cancellation, it creates a barrier against the outside air. For a sweaty run or a high-tempo HIIT session, the enclosed ear cups might become warm quickly. It is also strictly a wireless device using Bluetooth 5.0, which means you cannot rely on a wired connection for zero-latency competitive scenarios. If your primary goal is to enjoy movies, music, or casual gaming with maximum battery life and no wires, this is the tool for you. But if you are looking for something that stays cool and invisible during intense physical exertion, the bulkier form factor might be a dealbreaker.
The Sony INZONE E9 is not a standard consumer headphone; it is a specialized instrument developed in collaboration with Fnatic professionals. This partnership dictates every aspect of its design, from the acoustic tuning to the physical shape. It is an in-ear monitor (IEM) that prioritizes situational awareness above all else. The sealed body design and the inclusion of four different ear tip sizes allow for a custom fit that ensures optimal passive noise isolation. Unlike open-back headphones, these buds create a seal that physically blocks out the noise of a crowded gym or a busy home office, forcing your brain to focus entirely on the audio feed.
The audio architecture here is fundamentally different from the SOMIC. Instead of large dynamic drivers, the INZONE E9 utilizes balanced armature drivers. This technology is famous for its speed and detail retrieval, allowing the user to hear subtle cues like footsteps, reloading sounds, or directional shifts in a fast-paced FPS game. The low-profile design ensures that the buds sit flush against the ear, minimizing pressure and preventing them from falling out during vigorous movement. The flexible ear hooks add a layer of security that standard earbuds often lack, making them suitable for running or jumping rope.
The catch is the connectivity and ecosystem. These are wired earphones that require a specific USB-C audio box to unlock their full potential, including the 360 Spatial Sound for Gaming and EQ control via the INZONE Hub software. There is no Bluetooth; there is no wireless freedom. You must be connected to a PC or a compatible device to access the advanced features. Furthermore, the sensitivity and impedance settings suggest a reliance on a dedicated amplifier (the included audio box) to drive the sound correctly. If you are a serious gamer who needs to hear exactly where an enemy is standing, or an athlete who needs a distraction-free zone that fits under a helmet or goggles, this is the superior choice. But if you value the convenience of wireless streaming or listening to podcasts while commuting, the requirement for a cable and a dongle will feel restrictive.

In my opinion, the SOMIC Air One ANC is the more versatile daily driver for the general user, especially someone who values the "best deep bass headband headphones for workout" category without sacrificing battery life. The ability to go 50 hours on a charge and the comfort of memory foam make it a practical companion for long days. However, if your definition of "workout" includes intense competitive gaming or training where hearing the slightest audio cue determines victory, the Sony INZONE E9 is the only logical choice. I would buy the Sony for my desk setup and gaming rig because the precision is unmatched, but for everything else—commuting, casual listening, and gym sessions—I would reach for the SOMIC.
The Sony INZONE E9 features a sealed design and comes with silicone tips for a tight fit, offering better resistance to moisture ingress than most over-ear models, though neither explicitly lists an IP rating. The SOMIC Air One ANC relies on memory foam which can retain sweat, making the Sony safer for high-intensity, sweaty environments.
Yes, the Sony INZONE E9 requires the INZONE Hub software on a PC to access features like 360 Spatial Sound and EQ tuning. The SOMIC Air One ANC works immediately via Bluetooth without any mandatory app installation for basic playback.
The SOMIC Air One ANC uses hybrid active noise cancellation to actively cancel external frequencies, whereas the Sony INZONE E9 relies on a passive sealed design to block sound physically. For blocking a loud TV or construction noise, the SOMIC's active tech is likely more effective; for blocking crowd chatter to focus on game audio, the Sony's seal is superior.
No, the Sony INZONE E9 is a wired in-ear monitor that connects via a cable and requires a USB-C audio box for full functionality. It does not support Bluetooth. The SOMIC Air One ANC is fully wireless and connects via Bluetooth 5.0 to smartphones and tablets.
